full turbo back ss system, remapped, dump valve

think it got slipping clutch bargain for £650, loads tax n test dont u think?

planning to smarten it right up and sort it right out.

best insurance company to reccomend?

new to the site.

thanks andy

JonMc 28 December 2010 06:09 PM

Try Keith Micheals for insurance (make sure you ask for Gary Moulson - Moley on here) or have a look through the insurance section. It needs a fair bit of tidying looking at the pics. Clutch will set you back a fair few quid, by time you've sorted it out it might not be such a bargain:wonder:

Check your vin plate under the bonnet. Its on passenger side near the bulkhead.
You will find the codes on the VIN plate.

gf8-008304 ?

nessscoob 28 December 2010 06:24 PM

seems a funny one. are you looking at the code in the applied model box? it should match one of the codes above i think.

AndyStiWagon 28 December 2010 06:27 PM

stamped in the bulkhead?

would it be european spec which is same as uk spec isnt it?
says same on mot certificate for chassis number?

thanks andy

AndyStiWagon 28 December 2010 06:46 PM

found th code, matches 3 off the 1994 list GF8B58D, any ideas which one it is ppl please?

GF8B58D =. WRX Type RA 5 door / 248
or
GF8B58D =. WRX STi V1 5 door / 258
or
GF8B58D = .WRX 5 door / 218

any ideas? thanks ppl

nessscoob 28 December 2010 06:52 PM

Does it have electric windows or that? As far as I know the RA is all about being lightweight, so doesnt have an electric pack.

AndyStiWagon 28 December 2010 06:58 PM

yes has electric windows, so kinda narrows it down, the guy i got it off said it was bout 300bhp-ish, turbo back stainless, dump valve, re-mapped. can see the stainless and dumpy, any way to check on it being remapped?
its a 2.0 turbo and goes like F%$k i no that lol

nessscoob 28 December 2010 06:58 PM

If you have an electric pack you can rule out the RA i think.

Next thing that might help is Im pretty sure the classic JDM WRX's redline at 7000 and the STi's redline is 500rpm higher. Could be wrong Im sure someone will correct me if I am.

Hope this helps

nessscoob 28 December 2010 06:59 PM

Mind you if it has been mapped, the chances are that the rev limiter has been raised. This was the case on my last wrx

AndyStiWagon 28 December 2010 07:16 PM

redlines at 7000rpm, but only a visual check, me kids going sleep as much as id love to fire it up lol

philS scooby 29 December 2010 04:41 AM

clutch from me 60 including delivery. fit your self then u have a bargain wag. doubt ot will have remap hav a look at e.c.u 450 4 brand new mapple e.c.u

TonyBurns 29 December 2010 09:18 AM

Just look under the bonnet, think its a wrx wagon though, if it were an sti you would see all the badges/stickers and a number denoting which one of 100 it is, plus if that rot is deep in the wings (dont go by the surface rust, its normally worse underneath than it looks on the surface) you could be in for a bill in excess of 1k to sort it.

Tony:)

B4D HK 29 December 2010 11:23 AM

Welcome Andy.
Your car looks like a WRX Wagon to me :)

I would personally check the for sale sections on here and see who is breaking a prefacelift silver classic and replace the:
headlights, front bumper and bonnet scoop back to original ones.

The car has potential but with all due respect at the moment it looks a bit Max Power ;)

Clutch wise put in a half decent one (Genuine Exedy/Blue Print) as it saves having to do the job twice.

All the best H

AndyStiWagon 29 December 2010 11:42 AM

Got a pair headlights to change bk already, bonnet and bumper is next on the agenda.

You think that the insurance co everyone talks bout on ere will be cheaper than 4300k to insure?

The engine codes match up to the wrx sti v1 and the wrx 5door? its got electric windows etc and is fookin quick, any other ways to decipher the exact model?

HOW MUCH?

chrispy200+ 29 December 2010 01:10 PM

It would have a plaque if it was an Sti of that year, I'd say it's a wrx wagon and 300 with those mods may be a bit optimistic

bioforger 29 December 2010 02:15 PM

wtf 4K for insurance, how old are you 20 something? :lol1:

Zen1 29 December 2010 02:30 PM

Wow that's insurance is loads I'm 20 and fully comp on all my subarus

where would the plaque be?

its supposed to have a tdo5 turbo, trying to find out what model car i got so can see if the turbo is uprated.

it revs straight thru the red dont limit at 7000rpm either like someone said?

AndyStiWagon 29 December 2010 08:45 PM
