Default My new respray

This is in projects section but thought I'd share it here too.

I've spent the past 12 months+ getting my scooby resprayed.
I'll let the pics talk

Day before purchase and now

This is a list of the body mods

Bodykit removed and all holes welded and smoothed over,
Headlamp washers jet removed, holes plastic welded and smoothed,
Front bumper extended at the bottom by approx 2" to cover bottom of the intercooler,
Windscreen washer jets removed, holes welded, smoothed and jets relocated to scuttle panel,
A pillar aerial removed, hole welded and smoothed,
Boot lock removed hole welded and smoothed,
Mid level boot spoiler fitted and 3rd brakelight removed and smoothed,
Rear numberplate recess shortened and led no plate lamp fitted.

Re-spray in Ford electric blue with Ford polaris grey wheels, mirrors and fog covers.

ALL the work was carried out by myself in my garage at home.

c&cs welcome

Nice attention to detail, and well done for doing all the work yourself but should have gone with black

Some great, very subtle, touches amongst that lot. Bet you're glad it's done

It's a brave colour choice, I think that pastel colours suit smaller cars better, but it doesn't look bad at all on that. Just need a little bit of lowering next

Now that is different! Like it though.

Reminds me of the light blue the Clio 182's came in. Glad you resisted the racing stripes though!

I would have to agree with the above and i would also think you have lowered its value quite a bit as well, you still made a good job though mate. if you like the colour thats all that matters.

really impressed with the work to the car - smoothing out everything, bumper extension etc.

would have sprayed it a different colour though

Good job on the home spraying. Just needs front carbon splitter to finish it off and maybe a small discreet sticker of 2

Nice mix of responses there guys, cheers
Must admit the colour is a bit marmite, I think I've acheived my aim of having a blue Scoobie thats just that little different to all the others out there. Its not as pastely as the pics would have you think, infact its quite a bright colour in the flesh. As for value, I'm not at all bothered as I won't be selling it

Very nice spray job. How did you manage with building up layers of paint & how many coats did you need?

liking the contrasting wing mirrors. nice touch. are they the same colour as the alloys? oh and those alloys look much better as well, dont think you would of pulled the look off with the old wheels.

1 coat of barcoat, 3 of filler primer and 3 of topcoat. Everything went ok except the boot spoiler which I put the primer on too thick and it reacted doh
