Belgian Sti V5 Type R
Hey,
Back in septembre 2009 I bought TurboDean's Impreza Sti V5 Type R and brought it to Belgium. This is my absolute dreamcar. I've driven a GT MY99 for a couple of years and enjoyed it very mucht but imho nothing comes even close to a 2door classic impreza
There were a couple of modifications
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
2.0 STI with Omega/RCM Pistons
VF22 Turbo
RCM Stage 2 Fuel Fump
RCM Headers
Full 3" Exhaust system
HKS Dump Valve
Forge Header Tank
Zero Sports Induction Pipe
Zero Sports Slam Panel
Zero Sports Intercooler Duct
Zero Sports Cool Racing Stat.
TEK3 Re-map
STI 8 Intercooler
Exedy Organic Clutch with Light Weight Flywheel
Suspension Modifications:
STI Shocks with Eibach Springs
Whiteline Rear ARB & Droplinks
Whitline Anti-lift Kit
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
17" Gold Revolution Milleniums
With 215/40/17 Toyo T1R's
Compbrake 330mm front Brakes
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Full Crystal Light Pack
Lamco Gauges
Alpine IVA-D310 DVD Screen
PSI3 Monitor
Momo Gear ****
Polished Ally Battery Cover
Polished Ally Fuse Cover
Polished Ally Belt Cover
Polished Brake Res Cover
Red Samco Hosing
This is a copy-paste of TurboDean spec list but I think there are a couple of modifications not listed. I found a remote starting device under the back seat. The exhaust manifold is heat wrapped and definitly not original.
Because the SVA in Belgium takes forever, the car still isn't registred in Belgium. Right now it's at my local garage since a couple of months. Because it was just sitting there, I had the mecanic install a couple of updates:
DCCDpro controller : an incredible difference. You can feel the dccd locking up an opening in the search for grip
AEX wideband AFR meter : IMHO a must in car that isn't standard
There is some work to be done. There is a fuse that keeps blowing out. Removed half the dashboard and the wiring is a bit of a mess (lose connections, wires without insulation, ...). Since the SVA will take another couple of weeks, I asked the mecanic to rewire partially.
And a little question about the shiny timing belt cover in the last picture. Does anybody know if this is for sale somewhere?
Sorry for my english, it's not my native language

All the information about dccd pro can be found at DCCDPro.com.
It turns the manual dccd into a full automatic system. The system is similar to the automatic system the >MY2005 models have but more advanced. The normal system has 7 (or 8) steps between open and locked. This system has 1024 steps.
I can only describe it as fenomenal. With the system off, the car is very very tailhappy. With the system on, you can really feel the car searching for grip.
My mecanic is a rally driver (and a good one) and he tested it. Result is that now he's looking to buy an impreza as his rally car with this system :-)

It's because of this car I fell in love with the impreza
I only noticed a couple of weeks ago, it has the same wheels (almost).
Back in 98, a couple of days before the rally of Ypres (10km from my home) I had the chance to sit in the copilote seat (of the car in the picture) for a couple of miles. Not the rally itself but the runs they do to check their notes. Not sure what the english translation is.
Since that moment there is only one car for me: 2door impreza sti
It's a shame the steering wheel is on the wrong side
