Not HDR just a little bit of photoshop, tbh HDR is a pain to do properly taking under and over exposed shots then overlaying and filtering, why bother when photoshop can do similar things with a click of a mouse button.

Well as im sure you know that HDR stands for high dynamic range ( IIRC) and gives much better depth of the colors. if you get a program like photomatix it will layer the pics for you and all you have to do is tweek it... i do agree that the takeing of the pics is a bit more of a pain though
