Default 08/09 STi - UK vs JDM mirrors with pics

Hi Guys,

Noticed a few people asking about size difference between UK and JDM mirrors for the 08/09 STi.

Fitted a pair of JDM mirrors to my 08 STi today and took a couple of comparison pics.

Enjoy, Neil.

Little and Large.

the wiring for the JDM one looks all spliced in your pic, does it not come with a multiplug or are the connections different to the UK multiplug?

The JDMs come without the multiplug connector hence the wiring looks a bit of a tangle in the pics. Very easy to remove the connector from your UK mirrors and swap over - you just need a pin/needle to remove the individual connectors from the multiplug.

Wiring colours are totally different between UK and JDM but if you buy the mirrors from Litchfield then Iain can provide wiring info.

I think it is some new EU reg that states mirrors have to be a certain size, mirror glass that is, check out the new A3, they're huge!!

Personally the larger UK mirrors don't offend me, I actually think the sculpturing (sp) on them flow quite well with the lines of the new shape, especially those that run down the hood. Also I know its the least of our worries (especially as we remove our Cats etc) but if it is an EU reg then JDM mirrors would be an MOT fail, chance of them spotting them is slim I know but thought was worth a mention, JDM car with JDM mirries I would imagine is fine though.

Cheers

I actually like the big mirrors, loads of rear view!! Or maybe my eyes are not what they used to be.

I prefer the big wing mirrors myself, the lines and the rear view is brilliant.

allthough the jdm mirrors look ok fitted but just not for me

hMmmm......never realized how bigger the UK mirrors were, thought the USDM were already big.....USDM and JDM are identical, other then the USDM are manually folded.....

If you want to see another one ask Ian at Litchfields, he has some photos of mine with one UK and one JDM mirror on the car at the same time, there is a big difference
