new type r owner
Hi guys its been a long time since i was last on here, I have always wanted a type r coupe but was always put off by the horror stories with the engine, but after long last i have taken the plunge. My mate is a scooby mechanic and cant rate these cars and scoobies in general highly enough, he said mafs can be problematic now and again which would not doubt cause alot of the lean mixture issuses and dead number four cylinders. I wasnt looking for one specifically but when i seen it i knew it was for me.
1998 v4 sti type r coupe in blue, stuble mods inc gorgeous new alloys, brand new clutch and loads of receipts for work done on the car but the best bit is the suspension, equal length manifold, ohlins coilovers with loads of whiteline stuff and set up by whiteline themselves, its running max camber and castor, ok the engine is relatively standard and running standard boost but its perfect till i can save for a forged engine build, anyway wont get it for prob a couple of weeks due to work but here are some pics of it

Looks very nice
later steering wheel though? still I did prefer that one to the ones without the badge in the middle (4's had a "stamped" badge rather than a fitted one, yours may be a late 4 so has a later steering wheel?)

yeah mate the car is apparently one month away from being a version 5, so i am told, I dont know how to tell the differences as i am a gtr man at heart and have been for a while but this may now change
Very nice motor mate I was the same always wanted a 2 door but couldnt afford one so had a uk 2 years ago. was a great car. but then last sunday I did it, I went out got my type r in blue absolutely beautifull car had a rebuild in 07 by api with forged pistons steel rods lightened flywheel, etc, also had uprated walbro, polished and ported headers, have a few little issues with it but its going to be with me for a long time so i have all the time in the world to get the bits done. Going for new brakes on thursday, also have oils changed and a diagnosis just to make sure it is all sweet. It is in a totally different league to my other one and am absolutley loving driving it at 20 mph just listening to the burble......... enjoy your type r mate....

cheers mate, this has got equal length headers so the full on scooby rumble has gone, but cruising along it is very quiet, even sounds nice under acceleration, i was worried about it sounding like a corsa with an exhaust on, thankfully it doesnt. So the want list is
Genuine subaru roof scoop
mud flaps
engine rebuild
front mount, would love it with a reversed manifold but its big bucks
AP brakes on the front
