Personally Imported Type-R
Afternoon all,
Just brought in my type-r which I owned in HK.. after arriving extremely dusty and dirty, gave it a good ol' clean as the weather was so fresh and lovely hehe
Has not been registered yet, still have foreign plates on, waiting till June to register as to avoid eSVA tests. Any idea how much my road tax will be once registered?
In HK:
Exporting:
In UK:

Hey fellas,
Thanks very much for the comments
Darc, yup, I owned in HK for about 2yrs... I brought it over to UK cause I have now moved back permanently and being exempt from Tax & Duty was a major selling point to export it... yay.
Subaru sold the Type-R's in HK so theres no need to remap Every single pump in HK is 98RON... so no need going around looking for V-Power as I will be doing over here Grrrr
Oooh and we dont have a consensus on the Tax question hehe... hope its not £400!!!.... i paid £600 in HK !!!... arghhhh!

My car is a v4 sti spent its life in Japan until a couple of years ago when l had it imported over. But it was only untill l had a dyno run that l discovered that the car was lean on fuel at about 5.5 revs. My car is always run on tesco unleaded 99. Very lucky the engine is ok no damage caused. My car was always run on 100 in Japan which was the super unleaded. So i know you said no need but just get it checked out just in case. just my advise as l been threw it and out of it.

Rikky... thanxs for the warning, much appreciated i suppose an AFR meter would be quite handy right now hehe
been out stripping the paint off the triangle wedges today, didnt think it would take so much time!... and the paint stripper happened to make a bit of the wedge all mucky and lumpy... eeeeek
how do most ppl strip the paint off them?

Amazing, must be so cool having owned it over there and to bring it back with you!
Gordon Brown thinks any newly imported car regardless of age is brand new so unfortunatly my mate andy payed £400 for his 1999 silvia s15, i fear it may be the same for you too!

did your mate have it eSVA'd?...I heard that if the vehicle skips the eSVA as mine will... then the MOT doesn't have enough specific data to categorise it under the new Tax Scheme...
Please not 400!
p.s. its was kinda weird seeing it on my UK driveway... took a little getting used to lol

My type R was a fresh import back 3 months, Had it registered and my tax is normal price £110 for 6 months or something close to that!
Mine is registered as a 1998 though, which is what it should be but i've seen a couple of classics with a 08 plate on and a 55 plate? Don't know how that works tbh
Nice type R by the way!
