i have to admit its a cat-d with no service history...that said it did come with £4,000 worth of reciepts from the scooby clinic, all work carried out in the last year.
the car is mint and i have had it for a week with no problems at all, until i opened it up tonight on the way home from work and gave it some beans and the engine managment light came on.
anyone know of a good place to get it looked over near southampton?
oh and it had done 66,000 miles

If so, the bugs are known for throwing up a CEL when doing this - mines done it about 20 times in 15 months i've owned it. Switch the ignition on/off about 5 times in a row and it will clear the CEL - then just keep an eye on it
Obviously i'm not saying ignore it completely - there might be a problem, but it could be nothing. Where/how was the car damaged? Front end? Vandalism? Flood damage?

when I first read this thread i wanted to cry as i paid 11k for my bug on a 2001 plate 3 years ago.
since buying it i have fitted a Blitz NUR Spec R plus a second decat,
Lowered it 30MM on Eibachs
Fitted 18 inch Innovite graphite grey alloys,
Fitted Brembo brakes all round with braided hosing
I am always tempted to sell as I am holding out for a blobeye spec c. But if I wait about another 2 years I will try and get an R AR
I am happy taking my time though as I 'm on my first Impreza and want to learn before making any further moves.

I only paid £4800 for my white bugeye 3 months ago
Well, I actually paid £6500 but it cost me £4800
Swapped my classic for a 02reg clio 172, and £2000 of my money....The guy eventually took £1000 because he was skint and needed the money quickly
I originally Paid £1800 for classic, so thats £2800 I had spent altogether
Then put the clio for sale for £4500 on piston heads with a "Maybe p/x" tag on it, original owner of my white bugeye contacted me saying he wanted £7500 for the bugeye, i said Id give him the Clio and £2k (so thats £6500 offer for the bugeye)
and deal went through, i get my bugeye for £4800 altogether....
48,000 genuine miles, full service history. Only thing needing to be done is a service and cambelt change, top dogs!
originally before buying the classic, I was looking out for a nice hawkeye or a WR1 ideally, but seen the classis and thought id buy that and save some money and spend some of what i saved on some new ice hockey and dj gear (Both quite expensive) and save rest for Uni or a deposit

Did you hit the rev limiter or change up a gear just before it (i.e over 6k rpm?)

ah that might be what done it. the turbo doesn't really kick in until 5,000revs as its a bigger turbo and come to think of it yes i did chnage up around the rev limiter
do you mean actually start the engine 5 times or just switch the key into the first position - if you knmow what i mean?
