Skyline at Elvington

"Is that Blowdog".. Pff, wash your mouth out
No, it was me !
The 'scort is getting prepped for track use.
NOTE: You can tell UK cars (mine) apart from imports (Blowdog's) by the headlights. Imports have black surrounds around each lamp within the cluster (which admittedly are nicer than the UK versions). BUT ! UK cars also have an oil cooler vent on left side of the front splitter (which is useful)

280bhp is disappointing for a car that price, but I gather its to do with Japanese regulations ?
Which makes the £2,500 a snip to get 400bhp.
Whats the power to weight ratio ? Looks like a big car

Yeah, I think the std. car is restricted for emissions reasons, and taking it to 400bhp by way of helping the breathing (induction kit / big exhaust) is very simple.
People think they're fecking heavy, and they're not. They weigh in at 1540kg. There are lots of weight saving features like massive carbon fibre undertrays (you don't want to break one of those)
400bhp in 1540kg = 260bhp/tonne. Which isn't shabby.

David,
did you go to Bentwaters at the end of January when the Skyline owners mob were there? If so, what do you think of the track now?

Yep, I was at the Bookatrack event at Benty at the end of January.
I liked the track, it took a bit of a while to get used to (having only been on race circuits before I tended to look at the tarmac, rather than the cones for direction)
There's a series of esses as you approach the pits, I found that if I tried to tiptoe through them (it was a very muddy area) then it was quite tricky.. whereas if I just pointed the car in the direction I wanted and booted it, things seemed far more natural and composed.
The 180degree bend at the end was a good WAHEEEEEY tailout opportunity too
I shall be returning there soon !
However, I have fallen in love with Elvington (in the wet) as there is a huge tarmac area that simply has nothing around to hit.. so you can imagine what happens with the following ingredients:
1. Wet tarmac
2. Huge space with nothing in sight
3. Tyres worn down to slick status

OI OI
Don't take the Dog's name in vain.
R34 GTR is actually a proven 320 BHP as standard. Bringing it to 400BHP is relatively easy (but still not cheap) but taking it further becomes futile as the price per BHP is huge. Still, the engine is rock hard and can take infinitely more in standard, internal trim.
David is right. My car (import) has xenons which UK cars DON'T have. Also, my car has THERMOSTATICALY CONTROLLED HKS Oil Cooling units going in, not the standard NIMSO oil coolers which are inferior. I also have the uprated NISMO MFD v2, UK cars only came with v1.
As for leather, too much sliding around on track days.

But David who`s the mug.
I get to spank one whenever I like and have never paid a penny
Maybe you can teach me a thing or two eh
And Cem......................well he`s just a bhp pub bull5hit boy.
I bet if he got his **** whipped by an old tank of an M3 he would have some excuse for his HKS widget not working right.
Cem I see it as watch mate.
There are the more expensive real mc coys and the cheap import immitations
PS please dont believe all that these tuners tell you.
I believe Mr U or whatever his name is did that and look what happened to his old Skylark:
Yours very tongue in cheek as ever

David perhaps you will let me have a go....................I am very carefull but am used to uprated brakes as the standard ones dont take prolonged abuse very well

I've not uprated the brakes because I only use the Skyline on the track for looning around and getting slides going. If it's going fast I want, then the supercharged Exige will annihilate most things, Skylines and M3s alike.
I see you've still got that heap of kraut krap you were trying to offload recently ?

Til your the R34 gets to a corner..
I recollect a while back at Donington when I reeled that Skyline in (over taking it at least once) when driven by both tweedle-dee and tweedle-dumb. And that was before the bhp/tonne was increase to levels you could only dream about
(I wondered how long it'd take before Birdy needed reinforcements )

You need yer eyes testing mate.. re-read what I wrote.
Just because I didn't overtake you (I overtook Steve) doesn't mean I didn't reel you in when you were driving. Want me to draw you a diagram ?

Ah well thats your word mate.
I have to say we were probably either on a slow down lap, an out lap, or trying to cool down the completly facked brakes.
But I can honestly say I never saw anybody in my mirror.
But I`m sure you could have passed us easily
Till next time Ayrton

You overtook me in the morning on my very first ever track day driving around very tentatively in a car which had just cost me 54k......really well done m8 no..honestly REAALLLYYYY well done. Fraid it was me, tweedle dee, again later on in the day that you reeled in but never passed, only difference being that my driving was a hell of a lot better due to me not being so petrified of someone prangin me, what with all those Halford shop windows on the circuit an' all (complete with cherry bombs)
Tongue planted firmly in cheek, and meant to be taken in a purely light hearted fashion type way of course m8
Steve
Besides I've upgraded to a Matiz now, and it's got your name on it, coming to a track event near you soon "Hairdressers Exige versus real mans Matiz in........ Battle of the leaky door sills and failing electrics thriller"

Steve,
do tell which track event ... looking forward to meeting you ... after making a prat of myself at Bentwaters the other week when the Skyline owners club had a big meet there ... and I introduced myself to W8 GTR thinking it was you
doh ... yeah, I know ... I'm a muppet .... but it's the only Skyline plate I'm familiar with ... apart from Blowdog's of course
