Default RB5 lowered a touch

After searchng the 2nd hand car parts market, I got some cheap used springs. I don't know what make they are but they are Blue in colour.
They have lowered 20mm alround and doesn't roll as much on the corners.
What do you think?

Before

After

mmmm.........Might go for Whiteline flat out springs next. lol

I have Prodrive springs on the front (which incidentally are blue ) , and Whiteline on the back - long story but to summarise one of my rear shocks was fooked when changing the springs so I now have 2006 Hawkeye rear shocks lol.

What I have noticed is:
1) The ride height is about 25mm lower at the front and 30mm lower at the back
2) On badly surfaced A roads you can really fell the difference; fillings don't fall out but it's not quite as comfy as the OEM springs.
3) Roll is much reduced when cornering and you can take corners at greater speed.

Suggest you get your geometry done if you haven't already, to complement the springs.

Looking good Bob. How does it compare to your old STi? Performance wise and handling?

Thumbs up

Looks very good Bob, i would say that is a bit lower than 20mm though (not that im complaining lol), id say about 40-45mm maybe?? Maybe if the springs are a few years old they have sagged a little though over time, which happens.

They make a world of difference to the car though ....im taking out my H+R 50mm springs soon to fit the AST coilovers and all the whiteline goodies, cant wait to see the difference all that make to the car

To be honest I doubt there is much in it, in straight line performance, although the STI was a little smoother and the gearing different.
The RB5 being a classic, seems lighter and more responsive but although 330bhp and lighter than the STI, it doesn't seem any quicker.

On the handling side of things, the classic is quite poor. The body roll is very noticeable and the brakes are not the best but the STI did have uprated arbs etc.....

The springs have made a noticeable improvement and a rear uprated arb is next on the list.
The Rb5 does give me a bigger grin though........probably due to the full decat
