Classic going Spoilerl'ess Part 2
As some may have seen been toying with the idea one for looks (to be different) and two as the the boot leaks and need to remove it to see if the spoiler has been fitted right!!
So today as the sun was out thought it would be a good time to do it, took the 11 bolts off that the guy has used to fix it to the boot, a bit of overkill imo but atleast ther was no chance it would fall off!!!, but as i guessed no sealer had been used hence the water in my boot!, the bootlid looks like ot has been hacked to pieces drilled then redrilled factions of mm away as the previous owner has not bothered to measure anything and got it wrong.
this is what it looked lik with:

and now removed:

will be leaving it off for a while to work out if i like it or not, if not i will re-fit it with sealer, or might go for a mid-level spoiler. if i leave it off either filled and sprayed or a carbon fobre lid not sure which yet.
also will be painting the door handles too
thanks
steve

iwas in your boat for a couple of weeks, so due to the leak it had to be done sooner rather than later.
get yourself along to halfords, they do some large plastic plugs, do as i have, remove the spoiler then pop them in with some clear sealant and see if it grows on you.
form some angles i really like it then others i am not soo sure, so i will give it a couple of weeks then see what i think

I'm one for big spoilers (it's the STI spoilers that give the Subaru that 'iconic' look), but have to say from those pics, it actually looks quite good.
Though I remember seeing a pic of a de-spoilered classic a while back, of just the rear, and thought it looked a bit wierd.

Hey Anger thought it was you! so how did you get on then beat any personal times?
Thanks Moley i was not to sure when thinking about it so went a head and did it, might go with a reverse bonnet scoop similar to yorus a see what theat looks like too
DaOne at teh min i have used the halfords plugs, same as bigvern as i wanted to be able to have the option of putting it back on if i wanted but as the boot has been drilled in soo many places i will have to have it done by a garage have it filled and sprayed i guess. doubt it will be cheap either
Boobiman i was with you and still are but just want to be different and around this way i have seen none without, too many young punks are getting them around my way as tehy have come doen in price, so just trying to stand out. but thanks!!!
OllieRB5 i am going to look into it, along with the boot i thought about the bonnet too as it may look good ona silver car, as well as a reversed scoop, but i dont want ti to look to Fast and Furious style as that is not my cup of tea (no offense to anyone)
Slipstream the plugs are large as flaps has said, in light blue pack with a clear centre, think the code was Kwhich is on the top right corner.on the back of the pack is 208348. hope that helps

Nothing wrong with the spoilerless look. Had it on my old classic. Didn't affect the handling one bit at normal speeds. Did feel a little bit wobbly at anything over 100 though.

Seems a very popular look in the states though:

i would agree with you there irc might end up putting in back on but will give it a feww weeks to see if it grows on me as it has started to already, think with the door handles painted it might look better
My bro had the spoiler off his old scoob a couple of years ago for repairs and I thought it looked ****e, but these actually look pretty good without
At least you won't get the chav brigade trying to nick them for the saxo's corsa's etc
