How bad does 18's look not lowered?
How bad does 18's look not lowered?
I have ordered some 18's, but wont be able to budget the springs until a month or 2 later.
Planning on gettign eiether 35mm or 50mm. Have people got examples of eiether.
I know it will handle pretty poor too, but in meantime has anyone got examples of 18's not lowered, lowered etc... so I know what to expect.

just wait to fit the wheels till you can afford springs, else you ll be driving round thinking.. everyone is looking at the gap in my wheel arceh.. trust me lol

my cars running the prodrive handling pack ad i`m sticking a set of 18" P1 WRCs on soon, i`ll eventually lower it on H&R springs probably, but in the mean time it wont look too bad.
my dads 99 classic is runnign 18s and isnt lowered. doesnt look too bad IMO

Here's a pic of my old classic on 18s not lowered.....
Damn I miss it lol anyway below is a pic of my car now on 18s lowered 30mm...
My advice is don't lower it at all! Unless you want it to rub that is!

to the o.p. can i ask what wheels/tyres your currently using?
i ask because if you upgrade to 18" wheels/tyres, the overall circumference and diameter of the tyre shouldnt be any different.
heres an example...
my scoob currently sits on 215/40/17 tyres
if i upgraded to 18" wheels, the tyres would be 215/35/18
used this site to calculate it and there is only 4mm difference in the diameter, which if you use the correct yres will make no difference. unless of course 17" not lowered looked stupid too?
common myth here me thinks
i ask because if you upgrade to 18" wheels/tyres, the overall circumference and diameter of the tyre shouldnt be any different.

Scoobyhunt07 you saw my scooby pics the other day and that isn't lowered. 18s don't look bad on an unlowered car they just look better when it is.

The silver one looks lower than 30 mm though? What springs? Standard dampers?

theres your answer the dude. the tyre sidewalls will be smaller and the inside rim of the wheel obviously larger. ths is possibly the only thing that may look different to a 17" wheel. the ride height wont be any different at all if you have the correct tyres on a 16-17" wheel. sure your scoob will look fine until youve got the readies for the springs.

You need to make sure you have the correct offset alloys and the correct size tyres if your going to drop it down on 18's without any issues... as stated by Andy 215/35/18 are the size for 4 door classics ( 2 door's will run on 225/35/18 )
Mine is sat on -50mm H&R springs and standard struts, I have never had a problem even with the car loaded.... in reality the springs dropped mine 25-30mm from standard ride height.

Exactly how I felt before I lowered mine.
Now running Tein S Techs, 35mm with Prodrive camber settings.
Definelty get it lowered, looks much better, and handles better too.

I had 2 classics, put both on 18's...
My UK classic was on colovers on its ****, tires were in the arches and never caught. With no arch mods.
My Type R was on 18's with standard suspension and that never caught with 5 people in it.
I think its just down to wheel and tire choice. 215/35/18's and you shouldn't have any problems.

can a 4 door run 225/35/18 ok or would that cause rubbing?
