Default De-tango'd blobeye wagon

Did this today following Talizmans 'how to' in the projects section. https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...eadlights.html.

We used a fan heater and a heat gun as opposed to putting them in the oven and it worked a treat. All in all it took about an hours and a half. I couldn't get silvertec bulbs so i've sprayed some orange ones (and saved myself £20!!!)

Looks good

Think yourself lucky you couldn’t get Silvertec, there're rubbish. It's Phillips Silvervision you need if you ever decide to change.

Have been to see a mate today who will fit all the bits for me and will get it mapped by powertune in Widnes. The guys been going for years (powertune) and done all sorts of cars. I'm a little dubious however because his method of mapping is to take your ECU out send it to some bloke and tell him what mods your car has done so he can "map" it to suit ! Anyone ever experienced this?

My mate who will (maybe) be doing the work has a 340bhp Astra van that he had mapped in this way and hes made up with it. My reservation is that if his van goes bang he will just rebuild it, if my scoob goes bang i will push it onto my drive and cry every night until i can afford to rebuild it (with an STI crank, forged pistons e.t.c. i might add).

Any comments?

Lee that car looks better by the day mate, whats next?

massive improvement aren't they?! I'm so glad I did mine. Did you add the extra silicone? AS said, if you change lamps later, get the philips silvervisions!

No extra silicone added! We heated the mastic up with the heat gun before we put them back together to make sure it sealed properly then my dad squeezed the 2 halves together as i did up the screws. I havent washed it yet and it hasn't rained so if they do mist up it'll be headlight out and silicone sealed.

Just a quick note........ if your dad is carrying the headlight lense between the house and the garage (in the rain) make sure he carries it outside up so it doesn't fill with nice little spots of rain ! Gotta love him though, he'll have a go at anything.

If i can get a spare headlight on the cheap i'm considering having a go at putting an induction trumpet where the main beam goes and connecting it up to the "snorkel". If i do get around to it and its successful i will post up a "how to" with pictures. Cant be that hard can it and as said above my dad will have a go at anything, **** hot really.

Looks so much better. It's amazing how a little mod like this can change the front end so much. This is how it should have come out from the factory imo.
