like it although I would darken the mesh grilles in bumper and scoop to complement the carbon bonnet and darken the wheels

still looks great though imo

Maybe its just me but i think it looks a bit like a car that has just come out of a bodyshop with replacement panels ready for the paintshop.I think perhaps it needs a bit of painting maybe just at the sides of the bonnet and boot/spoiler

Love the carbon

Agree with the need to darken the wheels though, and I personally would vote to remove the mesh from the bumper and most certainly the scoop

oh and change the rear lights back to standard

Unhappy

+1 on the rear lights

The rear lights are a personal bug bear of mine - they just seem really Max power on any scooby and only look right on Skylines to me.

Still each to their own.

Thanks for all the comments guys - good and bad - shows everyone has their own taste

Regarding the fit and finish, i was very pleased with the quality of the Seibon parts. Obviously the underside isn't so beautiful, but then again the underside of the standard scoobie bootlid isn't exactly a work of art either. Only comment I would make is that the bonnet takes an extra thump to ensure it is closed, and the scoop vibrates a bit at speed (nothing major). I did buy some aero-catches, but in the end didn't fit them as they seemed a little over the top, plus I don't drive everywhere at 150mph anyway

Fat Boy - believe it or not I do actually agree with you on the lights. Generally, aftermarket lights on scoobs don't look good, but I saw these Morette ones on Knowlesey's car a couple of years ago, and they honestly look much better in the flesh. Promise.

Really like what you have done with the front Morettes by having the middle bit black. I am tempted now to do that to mine to break up the colour

that looks great. i like the carbon on blue. remove the mesh on the scoop and rb5 286 was right you need to darken the lower mesh grille. how much was the scoop from seibon? i've got a charge speed c/f bonnet and will need to get a scoop. got the rear c/f boot spoiler as well but am a bit dubious as unlike the sti one on my car now this one does not have the same bolts running thru them to bolt them onto the boot lid.

I did consider taking the mesh out of the grille, but on closer inspection it wasn't actually going to be as easy as you might think ... I was worred about damaging the grill as it is quite woven into the CF.

The silver lower grille will be coming out fairly shortly anyway to make way for an FMI ... do they do them in a darker colour do you know?

TSL fitted the spoiler to the boot for me so I'm not 100% sure about the bolts you are referring to .... but it is pretty solid, there are at least four bolts (they drilled new holes to fit), and then bonded it as well

the scoop came with the bonnet - no choice. I did actually ask for an STI7 one in CF but J-W racing weren't willing to swap it out for the same price, they wanted to charge me full price for a separate STI7 scoop. Prices as shown on the J-W site.

ianc61 - forgot to say, yep those black bits in the front morrettes give the car its 'eyes' back IMO, breaking up the blue

mint mate, i have a carbon fetish myself. dark wheels would look the nuts. if you veiw my scoob i have dark wheels.
im spraying my cf bonnet on the edges so it blends in with the wings. just waiting for it to be done.
defo some carbon mirrors to. they look great.

as for the lower grille, you could powder coat it. not to expensive. im toying with the idea myself. get yours done then i'll decide

nice one mate looking

looks good, would look better though with stock rear lights and removal of scoop mesh.
Carbon mirrors and roof panel would finish it off!!

IMO it looks cheap (although I appreciate it is far from that) especially with that scoop. If it was being done as part of a weight save for a track car that is another thing.

We all have different tastes though mate.

imo carbon cant look cheap as anyone who drives performance cars knows its not. just my opinion of course

Dave,
It's like Gold..... it is not cheap, but if I see a bird with loads of it hanging around her neck it looks cheap imo.

I know first hand that CF is not cheap. It cost me £1300 for CF door cards and firewall etc for the Spec C, when the interior was stripped. But that was done with CF because the finish was nice, it was light weight (for the whole weight reduction thing) and it served a purpose of covering up the unsightly gaps.

The contrasting colour between blue and carbon perhaps is part of the issue in my eyes. If the car was black etc, I may look more pleasing.

Don't forget I am getting to be an old duffer and us old'uns have a change of what looks good.

Just not my cup of tea, but that is my opinion and I am not saying I am right (this time lol).

Fair enough

At the end of the day, I wouldn't have done it if I didn't like it ...... although I'm really glad I posted this thread now because you lot have convinced me to get dark wheels (gunmetallic on order), and to have another crack at getting the mesh out of the scoop (though quite how I'm going to do it without snipping the wires individually I don't know lol).

The rear lights are staying though

And believe me, I do take her on the track - was screeching round Curborough only last Thursday ..... but clearly I can't claim that "it's all about the weight reduction" or anything ridiculous like that

Just as well really as the CF bonnet is heavier than the ally one

i really like it mate. if i could afford it i would get my car covered in carbon fibre, but most likely spray the car black first. if i was feeling a bit daring then id do a matt black.

wonder what that would look like
