Cool Neetronics Install On My STi V4 Type RA

Had a busy day last Wednesday trying to get a few more Subaru jobs ticked off the list. I've had my eye on the Neetronics DCCD controller for a while now. The cars DCCD is a fantastic tool but i find myself not making as much use of it as i should purely because it requires constant adjustment. A group buy on here was all the prompting i needed to get one bought.

Furthermore, as i'll be running the cars current EJ20 a little bit harder than normal for the rest of the year i thought it'd be prudent to keep half an eye on oil temps. I don't see much point in analogue temperature gauges so decided on a digital gauge... and what better than an SPA unit? The added bonus with the SPA dual-gauge setup is i can monitor temps both above number 3 piston and in the sump.

The next issue was where to mount everything. Having 3x Defis in the centre cubby, an AFR monitor on the A pillar as well as PFC Hand Commander, AVC-R, Detalarm and charge temperature gauge littered over the interior i had to bite a mighty big bullet....

....the stereo had to go!

I designed a one-off 'telemetry panel' earlier on this week. This was water jet cut and i collected it Wednesday lunchtime.

This was folded before being treated to some dark metallic grey paint (to match the interior trim).

This picture was taken after all the hard work was done. It took me the best part of three hours to wire in the loom for the Neetronics, it seems to be supplied with about 15km of wire!

Damn chuffed with the result considering the timescale, all done within 8 hours.

The PS/2 connection in the bottom left corner will eventually be where my Apex'i Hand Commander plugs in. This can then be unplugged and a laptop connected for remapping purposes - no more rooting around in the passenger foot well!

I'm a big music fan so i'm not sure how i'm going to cope without the stereo. It's a nice little weight saving though, speakers to come out next!

You could leave the speakers in and just get a small amp and then run a converter from an ipod to the amp. It'd be relatively light you just wouldn't have radio.
