Had a scooby for 3yrs. Was better than the Celica I had before it, but nowhere near as fast as the above two.. by a significant margin

I'm leaning towards an Exige as my next toy

Can you post details of the mods you have added to it to get the power output, if you are feeling generous you could also scare me by putting the cost on the bottom that you laid out on top of the donor car

Hi Yex, I run the Exiges Bulletin Board (www.exiges.com) where you will find lots of enthusiastic and friendly people discussing their Exiges.

The modification to get to 272bhp is the TurboTechnics Supercharger conversion. It involves:

Engine

Supercharged 1.8 VHPD de-restircted k series. Lightweight low compression pistons and forged connecting rods designed by Turbo Technics. Strengthened crankcase and cylinder liners. Cast aluminium ladder frame. High tensile through bolts. Revised lubrication system. Uprated cylinder head. Thoroughly inspected and re-assembled to exacting tolerances. Dynamometer tested with power recording.

Maximum output: 272 BHP @ 7000 rpm
Maximum torque: 215 lb/ft @ 6000 rpm

Power to weight for the Exige: 340 bhp per tonne.

0-60: 4.0
0-100: 10.0

Supercharger

Geotec centrifugal supercharger manufactured by Turbo Technics. Epicyclic traction-drive system. Maximum speed 95,000 rev/min. Boost pressure 0.70 bar. Lightweight cast aluminium construction. Lubricated by oil direct from engine.

Supercharger drive

Reinforces poly-vee drive belt. Wider crankshaft pully. Automatic belt tensioner system and idler pulley. Sealed for life bearings.

Induction

High-flow air box incorporating foam filter. Intergrated charge-cooler with coolant circuit. Cast aluminium inlet manifold tuned for maximum torque. Silicon high pressure hoses. Uprated crankcase ventilation system and catch tank.

Cooling

Charge-cooler radiator mounted in nose of vehicle. Electric coolant circulation pump. Expansion tank. 13 row oil cooler. Stainless braided oil lines.

Engine Management

Double row 8 injector system. Digitally mapped igntion and ECU injector drive

Features

Boost pressure of 0.70 bar directed int a new cast aluminium inlet manifold with integrated charge cooler. This prevents increased engine bay temperature.

Coolant circulated with the aid of an electric pump to an additional water radiator mounted within the nose section of the car.

A front mounted oil cooler is situated within the supercharger unit.

Numerous engine components are machined, strengthened or replaced. These include a new set of strengthened Turbo Technics pistons, new forged connecting rods, a cast aluminium ladder frame to increase crankcase rigidity and high tensile through-bolts. Once meticulously assembled, every engine undergoes a full test programme. A total of eight fuel injectors that have been digitally mapped by Turbo Technics provide the necessary fuel to ensure maximum power and engine reliability. The new cast aluminium air inlet manifold has been designed to maximise engine torque, but also incorporates a charge cooler to increase efficiency. The transmission remains standard apart from an uprated clutch assembly.

Servicing and warranty

Low in maintenance, then engine and supercharger require no specialist servicing.

The supercharger bearings are lubricated by oil direct from the engine.

Standard grade engine oil is used.

Supercharger drive is transmitted via a longlife poly-vee belt with automatic tensioner.

Peace of mind with one year 12,000 mile warranty.

Cost inc fitting + Vat: a few quid under £10K.

Handling wise, little will touch it, and with the S/charger, not much will touch it in a straight line either.

 

Plus the added advantage that everything thay could go wrong did on the development mule, so problems are sorted out now for new kits. Lucky the guy who owns the development car also has a skyline to potter about in LOL

Mmmmmmm 340R with minimal miles......nice but not quite practical if it rains whilst out and about
