I wouldn't get to worried about it that'll definitely live At least everyone was OK
We had a battered and abused Forrester (not a turbo) where I used to work, that had somebody steam into the back of it and push it under the back of a limestone wagon That needed a tailgate, both rear quarters, a bonnet, two front wings, and both bumpers, yet the insurance co put it back on the road.
Make sure you get a decent courtesy car whilst it's away

That is certainly repairable...
However, a write off is simply a term given to a car whose price for repair, exceeds or comes to 2 thirds the value, of the car.
Hence, they decide to just 'write off' the car.
Sadly I'm afraid, the cost of repair will push it over the edge, unless you can get a payout, and keep the car and get it repaired yourself. Or, agree a contract price, whereby the cost of repairs will be fixed, and again get it repaired by someone you trust.

Glad to hear that everyone was ok mate, the car can be repaired/replaced.. people cant. Hope you get the car repaired and are happy being in it again. Let us know the outcome though.

I'm surprised with such little visible damage on the front bumper cover that the radiator was impacted even the slightest. Do you have a lightweight bumper beam?

Typical Impreza; the inner bumpers are wafer thin. Even 5mph impact is enough to push them into the rad (especially if the car infront had a tow bar), meanwhile the outer bumper pops back to its normal shape (well almost)
Car is definetely repairable, I'd say cost of repair vs vehicle value is 45:55. Depending on its pre accident condition and value based on that condition. Which way the assesor will sway is a guess, but I chance that he's clear it for repair.
May I add don't let the ins co bully you to go to their repairers, its no guarantee over the quality of workmanship.

Correct, I advise anyone in this situation NOT to go through there own insurance....way too much hassle....
Helphire is a good company, (we use them) and have never had a bad report from them.
Fart man.... correct also, you will find that 'approved repairers' are nothing more than sweat shops, getting as much work done a quickly as poss for the insurers, thus compromising quality...

Mrs car had a bump & we were pushed into taking it to their approved repairer - what a nightmare. Car had to go back in 2 more times to get the stuff fixed that they hadn't sorted the 1st time.
Hope you get your car fixed cduk300

I would say that will be classed as economically viable to repair. My old civic was worth about £2000 and Adrian Flux repaired a folded boot floor ( much worse than above ) rather than pay out the 4k agreed value on the policy.
I still think they are ***** though

The important thing is your family is left. About your scooby. Perhaps a little body work can do the trick and it's back to new again.

Looks like they are doing a good job there mate.
Can someone explain something to me...
Say your car is worth 10k pre accident and 7.5k post accident and repaired does the insurance company give you 2.5k?

Ever thought of giving your var a face lift whilst it was in the garage? I know some guys don't like the blob eyes and because your car is almost getting a new front end anyway, why not go for the facelift?
Just a thought.....

Yep, lifes a b1tch eh But if the car is properly repaired to manufacturers standards theres no reason why you should lose a large chunk of cash on resale. Ok its not perfectly mint, but it should be as good as new if repaired properly. It wouldn't bother me at all, unless the car had some major chassis damage or something.

If the accident is clearly someone else's fault - as this one was and they are properly insured - you are entitled to have your car repaired to its former glory REGARDLESS of how much it costs. Your claim is against the other driver's insurance company and not your own, and the other driver's insurers are obliged by law to fix your car ... even if it has been flattened by a steamroller. Far too many people do not realise that this is their entitlement in law and roll over when someone waves a totally inadequate cheque at them "in full and final settlement" on a so-called write-off. Indeed, some cars are written off when the repair costs exceed only 35% of the market value so a relatively minor bump can result in an insurer trying to palm you off with a settlement that won't buy you a proper, like for like, replacement vehicle.
