Cool Hybrid FMIC No3 Fitting Day for "WRY RCY"

Well guys we have been drilling grinding and cutting for a third time

This time it was for WRY RCY (Chris and Gemma) on their early jap spec classic

This install was certainly not without it's hitches as the pipework simply did not fit when we got into the engine bay It looked to be for a later phase engine, but we fitted it up to a point then had to replace the top mount for Chris to source some modified pipework at a later date

Chris has since finished this and had Andy F to map the car so he will appear on the thread later to update us with the finished pictures.... I've not seen the finished car yet so I thought I had better get a move on and start the thread off

Right present on the day were... Chris, BigDaz, Simb, BigBrakes (John), Mattscooby, Dannyboy and myself.

Here we go then.....

The car arrives and we start to strip a few bits of in preparation,

I've got to add how clean this car is for it's age.... not a spot of rust anywhere we were well impressed

Simb starts on the top mount

Chris gets told to remove his own wheels we don't want to mark them and get a

The front mount is offered up then fixed on just to get an idea of how much fine tuning is needed....

Danny start the fine tuning

Daz sit and thinks for a minute..

The hole on the inner wing is roughly enlarged to start with...

Then John fine tunes with his skillfull eye

By this time Chris is pacing around like the expectant father

Scarey stuff

Don't worry it ends up like this after getting a coat of hammerite and some rubber edging strip

Daz is concentrating deeply.....

Lets just take a moment out for Chris brakes....

And Coilovers..

Not a nice man at all

Right as you can see there is a little bit to cut off and tidy up on the front end..

I dropped some hammerite on all exposed areas including Danny hands

Not the best place for you number plate Chris

All the lower pipework is put roughly in place..

Simb and Matt are working on the front bumper at this point in time...

It's quite scarey when you see just how much needs chopping out

As a rough guide here are some measurements, but I still think about another 5mm needs to be removed still...

Quality or what

By this point we have come to the reality that all is far from correct with the second fix of pipes.... it simply does not line up

You will see just how far things were out John gives it some thought as Chris looks on, this was when we decided just to hold back before we go past a point of no return...

We then decide that enough is enough and cover the ends over and leave it at that point of install.... we have hit a wall and can't get around it so work continues with the bumper...

Darkness decends after a long day...

Lights are all working fine

Very nice indeed

Right hopefully over to Chris for the rest of them

Regards
Simon

Chris you did modify it just a little

Are you leaving cable tie fixing on it or sussing out a better method ?

Thinking of it logically that run is really not much longer if any than the standard direction taken.... and after having Andy map it all must be well
I'll give Charlie his due he can certainly weld if that's the correct term to use on these joints
