Question Pic Request.... Tilt Kit On TMIC

Hi Team,

I'm doing some studing here and have read that this mod is easy to do yourself.... does anyone have their top mount tilted with one of these kits or DIY style ?
Some pictures would really be appreciated if possible

Regards
Simon

Hi

Can i ask what difference tilting the intercooler makes? what does tilting it achieve?

also where do you get the spacers?

When the top mount is flat the air is more likely to flow partly over the top of the intercooler thus not cooling it as much as it should.... by tilting you will get the air to flow through the fins of the intercooler bring the temperatures down more efficiently.
Looking at the link above it appears this was corrected on the new age models... also I've picked up a splitter to fit in my scoop to direct the air onto the top mount more efficiently as at the moment it appears some spills over the back and is wasted.
Learn something new on here every day

I'm not sure where you can get spacers... I've cobbled some parts together in work to do mine, have a look what's in the DIY store you may find something that fits the bill... I never realised what this mod was until now

Don't worry about the spacers Simon

Just use 483 washers on one side, and 352 on the other

Looks like a relatively simple and sensible thing to do this, just sourcing the spacers ??

I have looked into getting one of those internal scoop splitters for better air flow

Cheers Mick

So would doing both be of mutual benefit?

Fitting the spacers to tilt the IC and then fitting a splitter?

Most definatly they would tilt the mount and direct as much air through it as possible. RB5 69's link above spells it out clearly.

I need to see how much time I have first Daz.... I may call in on the way home first, but I really need to spend a couple of hours on mine before Dan gets to me. I'll give you a call on Friday and let you know my movements, I'm in work until 12.30

I used some heavy gauge copper piping to do mine .... plus a washer top and bottom to stop it cutting into the rubber mounts.

Same dimensions though, and just as effective!!

r.e. the strut brace .... depends what one ..... definitely wont foul the STi C/F one .... but check others!!

Also, once done, check to see if the rear upper edge of the I/C is touching the clips on the bonnet that hold the washer hose in place! .... can cause rubbing.

Norm.
