Hit a pothole whilst going round a roundabout. The hole was filled in a week later. Too late for me to complain!!
Cheers

have a friend who bent an alloy and punctured a tyre, she claimed both back. did it straight away mind. wasnt a pot hole but road works with a big bump (ridge) where they has took the road up and it joined the old road.
good luck, worth a try.
just take it into an mot station and ask.

As far as i can remember (ex authorised examiner) there used to be a rule that damage to a side wall was ok if the reinforcing cords were not showing and the cut was under a certain size.as for wheel rim damage i would say if its not excessively distorted or affecting the seating of the tyre it should be ok.
Best bet is to pop into mot station and ask them to quickly look at it as at the end of the day a certain phrase in the MOT testers bible springs to mind "worn/damaged to exess" ,trouble is no two peoples idea of excessive wear or damage ever seemed to be the same !!!

i think it only matters if it has been ripped off the surface of the tread at the very top not the sides. and i think the minium of the tread's height has to be 2cm. should pass unless the alloy spins bent now.

If it has cut through any of the cords in the tyre then it will fail if checked correctly

Personally I wouldn't give a monkies about the MoT, I wouldn't feel safe driving around at speed (on my private road ) with a tyre and wheel that has sustained that sort of damage. Even if it looks okay form the outside you don't know what damage has been done to the internal lay up of the tyre. Blow outs at speed are not good, front or rear.
Try and get a new wheel and tyre out of the local authority, and failing that replace it anyway. Not worth risking your life over is it?

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s by any chance? Running at the normal pressures? I've got a matching nick in one of mine, received in exactly the same way. Let me know if you want to borrow it so you've got a matching pair
The rubber missing is just a side-guard designed to protect your alloy in side-brushing incidents. As long as there's no structural damage (and it doesn't look like there's any), you should be OK.
I know everyone swears by F1s, but I'm going to try P-Zero Neros next. I've had two F1s damaged very easily - they've just got too soft a sidewall and any bump or pothole leaves it's mark.
