This is my old Hillclimber at Harewood Hillclimb in Leeds, it used to get used as a daily driver and as a competition car, sadly it wasn't a harmonious relationship. Competition car and daily driver didn't really mix
and now its "cheaper" replacement used soley for Hillclimbs and sprints.

Hi Christian,
No the better island - Guernsey !. You didn't spot the post or the reg number then?.
I was coming to do a couple of your sprints on the Five Mile Road earlier this year but your rules are different to ours, i.e. you allow "modified" cars such as yours to compete in the "production" category, so I didn't bother. I was "production" then but am now "modified" but mine is used for hillclimbs rather than sprints as I find it more challenging. Sprints are won based upon BHP and getting off the line whereas with hillclimbing it is all about getting used to the car, getting the handling set up correct, getting the racing line correct, etc. Cheers Stu

The better island is Jersey more like!
Everyone is different, I only did the sprints once last year, and that was with a blown exhaust gasket (from a track day the day before in france). Was good fun, and was nice to go legally over 40mph. I may do the hill climb one day, but since I use my car for everyday usage, I don't want to risk the car being off the road if I hit it
The trackday at Loheac in france I really enjoyed, and will look at doing that again in the near future.
The only thing that kills me, when I do the sprints or trackday is the extra insurance I have to pay to cover everything. I use another company to cover me, and it works out to be £650, which well I can't afford to do everytime!!!
You should come over to www.CICarScene.com and register - site dedicated to people who live in the Channel Islands and interested in cars etc..

Hi Christian,
Your car is some beast I must say.
You pay how much to insure whilst on event!. £650 per event so a sprint and a track day cost you £1,300 for just two events. Surely you would be better keeping it in your bank account and in the unlikely event of having an accident just paying for the damage.
Being in insurance and in motorsport, very few people insure (certainly in Guernsey) whilst competing.
I am orgainising a track day at Loheac on either Thursday 12th June or Friday 13th June to coincide with a group of us that goes to Le Mans each year. If you are interested let me know or if you are going to do another one let me know.
What about you and I establishing a Channel Islands Subaru Owners Club - an offshoot of ScoobyNet or SIDC, etc.
Regards
Stuart

Thanks Stuart.
I know it is expensive isn't it! That is a good idea about putting the money in the bank instead, but no doubt it would cost more than that to repair it! Everything is custom (Well under the hood anyway!) you see. A lot of people told me the same thing, but well at the end of the day, I would be gutted if it was written off in an event, and I wouldn't get nothing back for not insuring it - A risk I cannot afford to take.
I am interested in the track day, but will need to let you know nearer the time, as I would be getting married on the follow saturday (19th june), and well that is going to be very costly!!
I looked into establishing a Channel Islands Subaru Owners Club, but the demand was is not in place. This is why I decided to start www.CICarScene.com, to cater for all cars on the market in the Channel Islands.
