mega-stream,

i checked with dave (the artist) first and he was cool- in fact he thought it would be some nice advertising

anyway, i paid to have the pic done so if people want to download an image of my car they can. i'd be supprised if there are many people with wr blue wagons with morrettes and a pink badge though

It's already on the i-club site, so if my pics are anything to go by it's only a matter of time befire they edit the name/colour etc - mind you, if they mess around with mine any more, i'm going to have a chat with them about intellectual property rights and the fact the pics they lifted are marked copyright - that'll wake em up a bit....

Tiggs,

Not so sure carartz.com would approve of you posting that on the net for all to download...

Unhappy

They've been hacked around in several forums over there - changed the colour of the cars to silver/white (YUK), turned one into a 2 door, changed the rear spoiler to a standard one, even pasted a picture of some woman next to my car!!!!!

Oh, and a snide comment on one of them "you seen the colour of that guy's house" or something like that.

I joined up, posted a pleasant reply in two of the threads, gave more details of the cars, and answered a question about the wing. Despite the fact my first post has been there 48 hours and others have posted after me, they haven't even acknowledged my existence!! How rude!!!

I've been itching to go over there for 24 hours and educate them as to what manners/copyright are - i've resisted it so far, but it's gnawing away at me......

What's wrong about a woman next to the car...can't make it any worse now can it? *fnar*

Cheers Dave.

Hopefully they won't rape it too much.

I should maybe send slightly smaller pictures in future, but you lose a lot of the detail when I do that.

Thanks for the post Tiggs.

Angry

Dave T-S,

i have seen your post's re: your pics being used elsewhere. What's all the anger about?
It is a photo not the real car.

P.S.
You also made a comment about Americans in general. You know less about me than I know about you.
I am a Human before I am a Nationality.
I am good to all people! Unless they attack me.
Be a good human! Direct your feeling's to the one that upset you.

Question

Fogboy
I don't remember making a comment about Americans in general?????

The pictures were marked copyright. Any editing, alteration or modification of the original images is strictly forbidden. It was ignored.

That's the basis I posted them under - like it or not, that's the way it is. I don't want to see images of our cars modified so they are white/silver/different wings/people standing next to them. They are my property, and nobody has the right to modify the images without my consent.

I DID direct my feelings to the ones that upset me - I have had three out of three of the threads in i-club they were used in locked.

I'm not having a go at you, just explaining why I wanted them removed.

Dave

You should be concerned with your Right of Integrity - your right to object to, "derogatory treatment of your work". If you wish to know more:

Hi Dave-TS,
i don't know if you know HTML but you may be able to lock your pics with this code!

I design web sites and have used it many times.
I am pasteing it here for you or anybody else who needs it.

<script language="JavaScript"><!--
var message="DO NOT STEAL MY PICS!";
function click(e) {
if (document.all) {
if (event.button==2||event.button==3) {
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
if (document.layers) {
if (e.which == 3) {
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
}
if (document.layers) {
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
}
document.onmousedown=click;
// --></script>

It will pop up an alert box with whatever warning you want , just type it where I have put all the CAPITAL LETTERS.
Hope this works for you!

Fogboy

Thanks for the info guys.

I have no objection to the images being copied in their original form, it is just them being modified I object to. Someone could post something defamatory to a third party with pics of MY car attached, then I get flamed for it......

Fogboy
Thanks for the code info, but it's probably beyond the capabilities of my small brain!

Dave TS,
If you go here you will see how the code works. I think you will like it.
this site is a test bed for new things I learn.
Just right click as if you were going to save a pic and see what it does... You can change what it say's.

That's similar to what I use on Carartz.com and for the most part it works well.

If however you know your way round a keyboard there is a very simple way to steal the images ;-)

There really is no way to prevent image theft so all you can really do is make your images of a very low quality/high compression so they're not worth printing.

We're all a bunch of hypocrates anyway ;-) Don't try and tell me you've never "right-clicked" "save as".

Dave.

Cheers for the site, i'll have a look - although i've gone off the idea of posting pics at the moment!

BTW, Richard Squire posted on my last open thread on i-club, the webmaster locked it, and threatened to charge us admission!!!! - i've made myself about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit.....

this has all got a bit excited.

Dave at carartz.com

i hope the posting of the image has not caused you a problem/loss of biz, in fact the opposite was the intention. anyone out there now going to use dave for a pic of their car? speak now and make me feel better!

personaly, if somesone in salt lake wants to copy a pic of a my actual car and change it i dont give two hoots. not like i was about to sell the images or make money from them, just a lump of metal on my drive.

in fact the idea someone the otherside of the world wants to take time to muck about with a shot of a car taken on my drive makes me chuckle.

Cool

Hey Tiggs, it's ok, no harm done. I make new cars all the time anyway so it's not like I'd be bankrupt if someone copies your picture instead of ordering an original from me. The question is though, could they live with the guilt?

Haha, probably

Dave.

michelle,

carartz.com - if there isnt a pic in his gallery then you send him photos and he'll do one of your own car- i looked at loads of places doing this and prefered look of the designs- carartz were also cheap compared to others.

Hey Tiggs,
