Ive not got much experience ..! basically for the indicators i just sprayed the indicators with the tint using about 4 coats... then when it had dryed for about 1 hour i applied the laquer.. just keep giving it a few coats and it will end up shiney..!! its hard to explain you have to get the laquer sprayed on thick enough to look shiney but not so you make it run..!
The halfords laquer is ok...

mickle,
This is how derek made the scoop it forces the air forward and possibly like you said to prevent some water going straight to the filter, although i think some could still get to it..
I was surprised to see the underside of the scoop myself as i had not seen the bottom of it from the pics derek sent me... He does make them for the facefift bonnet too, so it should fit your P1..
Here are some more pics for you..!!!I have not got round to spraying the underside yet..!

Arrrrr now it all becomes clear!
That's a brilliant design, does he do a dummy one for the other side and has he a website or a contact number for future reference?

mickle,
his email is etsracing@currantbun.com
I think he only does the one side.. but he makes 22b bonnet vents for the other side and i think it is about £50 or £60 for the scoop and one 22b vent for the other side..!!

and that scoop there keeps his turbo cool does it??
the cars designed to run the way its built
if they needed extra cooling at that point the orginal vents would have been open`nd right up
*sheesh*
they spend how much on R&D making these cars??

Nowt to do with the turbo
It's for the airfilter, and i assume Dan's car is fitted with an aftermarket airfilter.
As an aftermarket filter is "aftermarkt", Subaru didn't fit the afor mentioned Scoop.

yep..!! i have a blitz SUS induction kit and as summer is on the say i thought i would feed it some cooler air..!!
Believe it or not mate you can actually improve on a factory car..!! ask most people on this board.. i.e suspension, performance and looks e.t.c..

if you bother to look at the scoop in the pics at the top of the thread you will see that the underside of it is made to prevent water entering the filter...
Look ok you dont like the scoop so why you replying on this thread..?????

see how this scooby rally car, which i asume will be modified in the engine department needs an extra vent on the bonnet

see how this also needs an extra hole in the bonnet to help it keep the airfilter cool

like i said, it would look better if there were 2 of them as it looks wrong the way it is, but its not about looking good, it makes it run better aperntly, which is fine
wierd how my brothers rs turbo piper cross filter came with a plate to blank of the bonnet vent that sits next to the air filter??
but what do i know
lol

eh calm down lads
whats so hard to understand about more cold air being fed to an indudtion kit??
that rally car you show would alsmost certainly be running an airbox and a feed through the inner wing to the airbox, therefore you are right about it not needing a scoop.
But Dans car has an induction kit which can pick up warm air from the engine bay, seems perfectly reasonable to feed it lashings of cold air

Correct me if i'm wrong but since the Classic was introduced, Group A has been phased out in favour of WRC regulations.
I'm thinking that Subaru put the bonnet vent things in, cos in the Safari (or one similar) rally there was some big pipe or other coming from this vent and going up the bonnet and up the window frame.
My point is that as the new WRC cars are more like "specials", therefore they don't need to have such close relations with the road going model, hence the Bugeye not having the vents.
Like i say, i could be wrong

StickyMicky - I think you'll also find that the rally Impreza has a 'Front Mount Intercooler' and where the OEM IC was is where they move the air filter to. So really that big scoop on the bonnet *IS* there for the air filter.
