2.5 Litre Impreza

Well I suppose us lucky limeys have it on bhp then!
Can you not turbo your existing car if you love it so much?
I would think a 2.5 turbo would be superb, my 2.0 is fairly quick!

We've got aftermarket turbo kits, but the reliability of course won't be up to par with an EJ20 right from the factory. Actually, a properly tuned kit on the EJ25 is supposed to kick on a stock EJ20. The EJ25 is quite responsive so I like it for auto cross racing. What I envision is an EJ20 swap in the future for my GC8 after sourcing a front clip. My EJ25 is going to be torn down shortly under warranty for some internal problems. But I don't know how much it will be worth it after I get my new STi next year.

KFC, you are probably right, after you get your new car you will probably forget all about us 'poor people' in the old GC8 model
Aftermarket turbos are ok if you dont try to run 'silly' power, you could take it up to about 220bhp with a decent exhaust etc. Plus you would have the benefit of greater torque from the 2.5.
Sorry I have to end it here, I need sleep
Cheers for now, (pick it up again tomorrow), And keep it shiny!

Why yes, I imagine it was because of my Toyo T1S rubber. :P A legacy turbo wagon was in front of it through the twisties as well, so I imagine the 911 was driven by an older *ahem*, slower gentleman.

You're just a mad man...
You guys are so lucky, even if the grey market may gouge you (or I can't recall now if Subaru has started selling STi's directly?), but we get squat! Everything has bigger displacement than Euro/Japanese models without a turbo! Here you can get a 2.2L, 2.5L, H6 Subarus, but no turbo except the WRX which just came out for MY2002. No new RX-7, Supra, turbo Celica's, Peugots.
My mods: Prodrive1 17" - 215/45/17 Toyo T1S rubber, RallyTech WRC mudflaps, STi pedals, side markers, Stromung stainless single tip exhaust. Damnit, it looks almost like a friggin' v5 type-r, 22B or P1 Impreza, but do you believe it came with a backing plate behind the hood scoop!!?
