Since owning the hatchback I've been looking at the 1s fitted with wind deflectors thinking they improve the look of the car, finally got a set, fitted them and instantly didn't like the look but now they have grown on me

 

I don't like the look, so might have to come back later and try again

You maybe forgetting that, for UK and Europe, the MY08-10 Impreza WRX, as per OP, is based on the Narrow body shell (G12) rather than the WRX STI wide body shell (G22).
MY2012 WRX STI bumper will not fit the earlier WRX.
For MY2012 the "run of the mill" Impreza model version changed from G12 to G13
G13 impreza



After MY2010 the UK and Europe didn't get the new wide body (saloon/hatch) WRX, just the WRX STI from MY11-13 and then the newer MY15 on "VA" model.

I believe it would need a pair of Sti wings to accommodate a 2012 front bumper. I do plan to get a Sti carbon spoiler & bonnet vent but that is it for the exterior
