hi! I currently live in Hawaii but I am in the process of moving to England within the next year. I figured I'd learn as much as possible about the UK subaru scene before I move. :] I have it to where I'm content with my sti, but obviously you can never stop with the mods. My biggest concern is having a USDM and not being able to continue with upgrades while I live in England. So I'm considering selling it before I move and buying one there.

Two points, why the hell would you leave Hawaii for the UK Seriously DON'T do it.

Love that colour, and I wanted those wheels on mine, but went for some 330s ones instead.

 

The Lapis Blue is so gorgeous. I was hesitant ordering the car without seeing the color in person, but when it arrived I knew I made the right choice.

Have you owned the car for over six months?
If not you'll have to pay import duty and tax.

Not to mention all the type approval crap you'll have to go through. I've just returned to the UK from Australia and have just been through all this with bringing my Australian market car here so know how it all works.

I honestly think you'd be better off by selling it and buying a new one here.

I like the lack of spoiler, it gives it more of a refined sleeper look.

One word of warning thought add to the weather and fuel prices. The roads in the UK can be bad, so anything with low and hard suspension can become annoying as a daily drive.

 

The main thing about taking a US car to the UK is the Steering wheel is on the other side .... although you can drive it with SVA checks, it will become rather annoying for overtaking and general driving. Best to sell it and buy a RHD car in the UK.

 

I'd sell and buy one over here, will get annoying over time. Plus you think Petrol is pricey in Hawaii wait till you get here, its over double the price.

So cons, rubbish weather, high fuel prices. But for me the pro's well out way the con's free health care, guessing wages will be better, we have it very good in this country.
