When I got it, he looked like this:

Some little maintaining had to be done.. Like a new gearbox, clutch.. and some mods:

Turbosmart @1.3 bar
Toyosport 3" catless turboback
K&N filter stock box
Walbro 255 pump
PLX DM-6 + SM-AFR Wideband Gauge Combo
Displaced / Absolute Performance ecumap
GReddy catch can
Mishimoto Expansion tank
Bailey Motorsport dump

Then those ugly *** wheels had to go..

At the same time changed all the brakecalipers, discs and pads ofc..

washy washy

then he looked a little better at the time.

So after the wedding (whole time thinking nothing else but my ride.. )

So a minor setback.. Im so dissapointed that i dont have a picture of the CRATE full of pieces of metal that came off of the engine. The whole metal cooling duct (im finnish, dont know the word, but where the water flows in the block) came off just by grabbing it by hand

So it came time to order some "overnight parts from Japan"

And this little piggy came to the market. An ej207 V7 with all the goodies attached to it. In working order.

Now it's in there. It is a mix of EJ207 block, BUT no avcs because ej205 ecu and wiring loom. I will drive the winter with the smaller intercooler and turbo (winter rims are the earlier gold 18" team dynamics wich i should change in about now because SNOW BE COMING <3)

But prob. after the winter the sti v7 tmic and larger turbo in my garage will remind me of better times.

IF you haven't driven an Impreza with ej207 and a small turbo, I hope you do someday. My first reaction creeped me out how fast it spools.

Lately its been much logging, (tactrix 2.0, romraider, BtSsm, ecuscan)

and

(dont mind those maps, they have changed what.. 3 times? after that picture)

with the help of Displaced/Absolute Performance because he is my sensei (and should be with the rate im paying him.. )

So here we are now. Waiting for snow with a new really nice engine. Hope you like it, if not, thats ok too! Nice to join to the forum!

That's a catastrophic bottom end failure!

What was the root cause? Massive detonation (whilst hooning to your wedding )?

Was your (potentially jilted ) fiancé angry with you?

Umm.. We were late. I said can you take a risk and step it up?

The flames and the choosing of the new pope (white smoke joke) started 5th gear ~5000rpm..

Mad for being late or for the car? Mostly for the car, she loves it.

Well thanks. The purple scoop and wing are plastidip for the moment. Previous owner f'd the painting and whenever i have thought about painting them, a project of something else appears.. But we'll be driving like that for the winter atleast. Lots of snow fun to be made (being finnish and all that, own hands and Ari Vatanens feet), so no point destroying a healthy new paintjob..

Oh and about those thoughts about the atomic destruction.. I have my doubts about the previous owner, there was a very ****ty turbo screw in the engine bay, someone had tuned the map in a way that I wouldnt even dare..

So I guess it just needed that one last push my chauffeur gave it. I hadn't abused it much because that blue love of mine is my daily driver also, so I have been keeping really good care of him. Of course I enjoy myself time to time, but who Impreza owner doesnt..

Yeah.

I'm using a MBC right now myself, (i dont want to argue about this, my car, my choice), but imagine a MBC in the engine bay and the mbc looks like a rip off of a chinese rip off being ripped off. Install of it was another pleasure to my eyes..

I'm actually sorry (and also glad) I don't have a picture of it. Threw it straight to the bin when got the car, replaced all the hoses and "oops" the car started to perform like a charm.

Hence why i always buy a none modified or low modified car, as some people do some dodgy mods.

So, have you been using it since you've owned the car (albeit a replacement, 'better' MBC)?... Ergo, was it in use on the fateful wedding day?

If so, apologies for my cyniscm for putting 2 and 2 together..........!

No need to be sorry, valid question.

-No, when i changed almost all of the vacuum lines when i got the car, i also installed a turbosmart MBC and the ecu has been tuned for it properly ever since..

Studded snow tires and wash. Yeah I know, wheres the snow? Better beforehand. Maybe I'll post some winter fun material some day..

A bit of a mess and a few things missing, but getting there. Runs nice tho, still lots of logging and tweaking, no point going to tune @ a dyno just yet because not 100% finished so lots and lots of road logged ROMs..

My "cord phone" (Xperia P without battery -> Car starts and BtSsm opens when Android has loaded), got to take a better picture, don't have that wire mess anymore
Handy for logging and some extra gauges are always welcome.
Connected to Tactrix OP 2.0 of course.

Merry christmas and happy holidays.

Hi. You've certainly spent a fair bit of cash on him. Fair play!

When you say you got a new gearbox and clutch, was it a replacement 5-speed box or did you upgrade to a 6-speed?

Her.

Since WWII, UK car gender 'officially' changed from masculine to feminine.

Umm do what exactly? I'm guessing my ingenious cord phone so:

Dug out the battery, soldered the battery indentification pin from the battery connector to its place so it believes theres one inside (will start), +12v and ground. After that picture, just insured the connectors with some hot glue and back together.

Here she is with a normal socket attached. Sorry about the picture quality, took them with a potato.

Then I mounted the Xperia to my dash as seen in picture with a basic air vent mount, plugged an OTG (USB On The Go) adapter to the phone and that to the Tactrix OpenPort. BtSsm is a great software btw and getting better day by day.
BtSsm has a "start program when otg plugged" option in itself so nothing to it, it starts when the android starts if the cords are connected.

Oh right, I have an aux fuse box with umm 8 outputs for all my devices (gauges etc) installed inside my dash, so i just plugged a cigarette lighter female to it, usb adapter to that and phone to it. All hidden, but easily removed.

Unfortunately no, but it's the JDM 5-speed, so it's the strongest one. Lets see how it will last.. planning to install blast plates to it tho, but we will see..

Started another project today, cause who needs free time huh..
(Thank you wife and son, if you ever read this)

The OP said in his OP that it was a boy.

I assume he's done the Crocodile Dundee test.

Running very rich, even before boost.. AFR 11-12 at closed loop. After awhile, get an error code from the front O2. The problem comes after the car has been running for like 4 minutes or so. Before that, symptoms were just rich (AFR <10) just before turbo spool, after the boost kicked in, normal 10.6 - 11 AFR to redline. A ~week of that, came the always rich closed loop.

'Displaced' made me an always open loop tune, but have not flashed it yet.. So we will see if it works, the O2 has gone bad, if not.. then I don't know.

How the ej207 differs from ej205 in terms of spool? Especially when you have no avcs running (are you using ej205 heads?)?
