Default Meet the new Boss, just like the old Boss !

After this happened a few weeks ago

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ter-crash.html

It was time to get a replacement and as the insurance company decided to be very generous , in their payout , it gave me the ability to replace the rust bucket that was the last scooby and find a better one.

Now having a) no imagination when it comes to colour and b) I love the classics, I was on the lookout for a similar one. Little did I realise that one would turn up, not only local to me but exactly the same as the last one

So quick test drive and bought it within a week

It is absolute mint, would never believe it was a UK classic , came with a ton of goodies already on it and a straight clean example. I have a ton of stuff to go on it that I had removed from the damaged scooby so over the next few months I will be carefully transplanting this on.

In the meantime it has had nothing but a radiator (swap) and strut brace. I also refreshed and painted the intercooler and fitted that.

So some pictures

Sonic the scooby

Sonic

Better than the last scooby especially from here !

Mint OZ Racing Superleggera

Old Sti radiator

scabby paintwork

needs a paint

and fins need fixing

Masked, etch primer and silver paint

Masked, etch primer and silver paint

All clean and top rail polished

All clean and top rail polished

All clean and top rail polished

sides all done as well

Engine needs a clean but some parts already fitted

Clean intercooler with new pipework and hoses

Looks tidy that!

I had a UK2000 in DBM few years back, and have to say in the sun that colour is amazing.

Cheers Andy, yes a silver lining and all that. My wife says the van hitting the car did me a favour and whilst that may be true , my neck does not agree with it !! Anyway can't grumble as this car is so much better

Even though it is pretty sorted already I cant resist by adding a few of my own touches so over the next few months the following jobs are planned :

Suspension
Already has Tein loweing springs all round so a whiteline rear anti roll ball will be sand blasted and painted and fitted
Uprated drop links all round
Sti Alloy Wishbone arms
Might have a look at refreshing bushes as well

Exhaust
Already fitted the decat downpipe which was wrapped, centre sectiona dn Blitz Nur Spec so the noise is back

Interior
It has a pretty decent stereo but my Apline is better so that is going in, normal hands free kit etc.
Discovered the speakers have been uprated front and back so that saves me a job.
Interior swapped from other scooby as that was cleaner.
Sill guards from my sport

Transmission
Have a short shift in the garage so that is going on

Lighting
It has a full crystal pack so have done the side repeaters . Just need some Sti rear lights as mine got damaged in the crash

Exterior
Body panels are mint so only need to replace the bonnet as it has a few chips and luckily I have a mint one tucked away
P1 splitter will go on, either in gloss black or colour coded. Not sure on that yet ?
Mud flaps I just received from Scoobyworld on the GB
Obviously I cant go without my trusty sun strip and SwissTony names
Finally some window tinting is on the cards

Braking
It already has 4 pots on the front and the rears have been painted but I do want my red 4 pots back and maybe some rear 2 pots if budget allows
Braided hoses as well

Wheels
Well as you can see the OZ racing ones are mint and dont need anything apart from centres and I have a set of Speedline ST2 spare but they are only 16"

Engine
This is where I will go to town and start my restoration project up again. The engine bay is no way as bad as the last one but it still needs a bit of Swiss TLC
CDF pulley set will go in and then as budget allows (as always) it is time for some power and I would like a VF34-5 at some point, remap and happy days

Still no pics of Mrs Swiss.

I suppose the car looks alright but I'd much rather see her, any chance you could send her out to wash it and get some sneaky pics.

I did indeed . Were you the guy he was talking about that was coming to see it later that week ?
if so sorry I got in there first but as it was only about 3 miles from where I live I did have a bit of a head start on you

If you are looking for DBM then good luck as they are bloody hard to come by, well ones in good nick

There is one on autotrader £2600 but cant really see how good it is as the photos are crap

No worries! By the time I got round to calling you'd already snapped it up. They seem to get some nice classics there - they've got a really smart wagon at the moment, but I'm really after another saloon.

Looks like you've got a good one though - it reminds me of my old one!

I was lucky as these are getting rarer by the day, but yes Terry does get some good ones in. He spends his time going around the country trying to find decent ones so worth keeping an eye out. Also if your budget can stretch, look at Max at Hursts cars in Bedford. Mostly imports but boy does he get good ones, not cheap but fresh off the boat

Thanks mate. As you and I were doing similar things on the engine bay and refresh, I was a bit gutted when my plans got waylaid but even though this one is soooooooo much cleaner and less rust, the engine bay does need some work so time to fire up the restoration project part II

Mudflaps- Fathers Day present so roped in the ankle biters to help and on they went. Luckily it seems the car had them on in the past so no need to drill any holes

Looks tidy, a set of STi rear lights and a Version 6 STi splitter would finish this car off. I even prefer the mid level spoiler!!

Cheers mate,

Had a set of Sti lights on my last one that sadly got smashed so on the look out for a set but they are going for silly money at the minute.

The splitter will be P1 I think from HT Autos and colour coded or maybe gloss black, have not decided yet. I like the look of the P1 splitter, always have done.

The rest is coming along as time allows

Cheers mate. I will of course update this thread as I add stuff . Some I can do myself as I have bags of enthusiasm but bugger all technical knowledge
After that I can always pop down to FB Tuning and ask rich to help out but the list will slowly dwindle

Busy day yesterday

My brother in law came round with his Golf GTi MK5 as he had a list of jobs to do so thought we would combine his jobs with mine

His headlights were badly clouded and marked. A common fault it seems with these models so I got out the polishing tools. This needed wet and dry 1200 grit as well as it was so badly marked

Before

After

We also replaced his entire exhaust system to a Miltek version and in the process smashed up the cat (cold weather section) so it sounded better and improved the BHP

After all that is was time for a little work on my scooby.
As the front discs had warped and were badly corroded on the rears, it was time for a replacement. So in prep, I got some Pagid Disks, pads and some great braided hoses from the GB on here.

God this is a messy job as once those brake lines come off, it is a case of working fast as the bloody fluid goes everywhere !

Before. You can see the old disks and original callipers together with standard hoses.

and all changed . Used my callipers from my previous scooby as they were in better condition

Still have the rear brake hoses to replace and handbrake shoes to swap out.
and tons of other jobs !!
