Yes they can although the manual does say not for far or above a certain speed (classic manual)

They can be towed on all four wheels, cant be towed with front or rear wheels off the ground.

Towed my brothers 2 litre impreza STi when it blew the headgasket and was stranded in the middle of no where,
lucky enough I towed it back to safety with my trusty 2.5 hawk STi.
Bit ironic really???
