Default new turbo 2000 owner

decided to take a step up from what im used to and buy myself a scooby had it a couple of weeks but haven't really had chance to introduce myself on here...
i live in stourbridge, west midlands. been looking at classic imprezas for a while, hoping for a pretty standard cheapish turbo, preferably red or white
ended up finding this pretty close by and reasonably cheap...

took a gamble on a cheap-ish turbo that had a bit of an oil leak (which got a lot worse a few days after i bought it ), so i've had to fork out for 2 new rocker gaskets and had the engine properly looked at and cleaned underneath but other than that it runs great. couple of minor little bits here and there that could do with sorting along the way but nothing major.
135,000 miles on the clock, full mot, long tax, nearly full subaru service history, standard other than a dump valve and exhaust system.

not sure if anyone on here knows much about the car, it started life somewhere in wales, moved down to somerset and then up to the midlands where it floated around lye/cradley/kidderminster

its a massive step up compared to what i used to have, a very basic standard vauxhall nova
the scooby is only the 3rd car iv owned, i've just turned 22 so the insurance is pretty high which is the main reason i was after one reasonably cheap. the number plate is tbz 3190, it was originally an R reg, not sure when it was changed but i think it was a while ago.

A nova lol. Sorry . Age 22 F ing hell insurance must be killing u. Can see y you went for a uk 2000. And not a import . Just take your time to no the car , tell me to fu*k off if you want . I don't no you may be a rally driver or something . I am 40 it's my 1st Subaru my last car was a golf R32 , had Cosworth ,. god 22 I remember have a Renault 5gt turbo at 22. But a Subaru is 216bhp the uk ones . And they are quick . Just remember when going round a roundabout keep in the right gear so u don't have turbo lag & when putting the power down don't lift off . She will grip . But do it some wear safe . Hope you full in love with the Subaru & it has a good lot of members & fan base behind this car .
P.s some one will no your car mate just give it time .

Welcome to the site mate

Nice clean looking classic there too. IIRC the Classic UK turbo to about the my98 was 208bhp and 215bhp thereafter upto the Bugeye shape.

Plenty of knowledgeable heads on here as well.

I love a red classic!! I went from 1.2 Clio to 1.6 focus to a bugeye wrx
At the grand old age of 24

Would love a classic but insurance difference between the two was just too intense

Enjoy it mate.

I've noticed this as well. There used to be quite a few for sale but a decent one rarely comes up for sale on these forums and I haven't seen many on Pistonheads either . Maybe they've all rusted away and the cheaper ones have been crashed by idiots?

When I had a my uk turbo there was hardly any about as I came to sell my car I saw loads of them, they were like mk4 golfs everyone had one and then when I had my evo I saw a old but now I got my spec c hardly any around.

I think the prices have gone back up, 8-9k cars seems to be near 11k
