I've seen it done on older clocks, and the results were disappointing. The green clocks are made to reflect green light, they didn't reflect enough red light, so looked dim

The old ones have a green film on the back of the face which you have to scrub off for the light to come through better if changing colour

yeah I found that they will go straight in...but will need to get the mileage corrected...seems like a pain in the ***!

I also found a guide for removing the green tint inside with nail polish remover. but need red bulb covers and no idea where to find them.

has anyone done this mod? seriously considering selling the DEFIs before they have even arrived and sticking with my cheapo gauges which work fine

I did this on my bugeye , but I'm still disappointed with the cluster. The problem is that the prosports are sooooo much greener and brighter ! I actually bought new bulbs from an autospares (no green shroud) and found out they are a bigger wattage than the old ones but still not bright green enough. Just on Saturday I fitted green l.e.d bulbs (ebay) and allough they are greener , they are duller and the red needles are now invisable at night ! Im kinda giving up , but might search for ultra bright green l.e.d , or ultra bright white with some green filter on the dials so the needles are lit white.

yeah, i have red defi's coming...i have found loads of ways to change the HVAC LEDs which looks easy enough...but nothing on how to do the cluster.

I dont want to put in a used clock that has different mileage so I will have to mod mine..I just need to see/find a good DIY on how to do it on newage (plenty about for classics)

Mine are green , but with clear bulbs and no green shrouds over them they are brighter , but a washed out green. Those pics are with the green led fitted but although greener , they are duller as its green light trying to pass through green filter , and the green light passing through the red needle doesnt work

I just dont fancy (or be bothered) removing the backing film , and hope the tripple green leds might work. Really only need to buy 4 as the fuel / temp side isnt too bad as they are close thogether.

Got new tripple leds , but only slightly improved. So I just did the mod where u remove the green backing with nail varnish remover ! Well impressed except for the red needles (they arent as bad as the pic seems). Tried adding a white led strip but noting seems to light the needles ?

What has everyone else done to solve this ? Is red or wite led (instead of green) the only solution ?
