Default bugeye lights

i have had one of my full beam lights down for a while and went to change it today, checked the book and it states H4 but i thought i would check first......

i found a H1

also HOW TIGHT IS IT IN THERE lol

anyway,i swapped it out and fitted a new H1 and it still does not work, now its a bog standard one lady owner from new (apart from me) subaru full main dealer stamped and serviced car,why would it be a H1 and also i found a relay connected to a load of wires with what looks like black silicone pasted on it (will take pics tomorrow in the daylight),whats going on guys,is this right?

Take the headlight out, it's pretty easy to remove and makes everything easier to see including any dodgy/damaged wiring. Take some more photos whilst the light is out.

Pics of the lights would help.
Sounds like you have either Morettes or STi lights.

You need to find the problem and rectify it, or it will return. Could be sticking relay.

Your new relay will benefit greatly from a bead of Araldite around the underside of the cap where the base joins. Waterproofing is worth it.
