Default water temp gauge

Hi ive just joined this site I own a 1995 impreza import .
I have two problems and hope you can help. First is my water temo gauge does not read properly it only goes up quatet of the way . I have changed thermostat as thought that might of been stuck open but it has made no difference. The fan comes on and of as ut should and the heating works as it should it also doesnt overheat or have any problems other than the gauge not reading correctly.
Second problem is fuel gauge doesnt seem to work. Any help would be great.
cheers in advance Jon

My wwater temp gauge only ever goes up to just under half way never seen it go higher, the fuel gauge I'd start by checking the connections tank end for loose or corrosion

MIGHT benefit from a new sender.

I have the standard gauge and a Defi.
As soon as I start the engine, the Defi begins to move. The standard gauge doesn't move until the Defi reaches about 65 deg.

I run both, but if you want to do that, you need one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38MM-WATER...item23267c6279

It fits in the top hose.
I did run without the stock gauge for a while, but seeing it pointing below zero did my head in, so now I have both.

Well changed the sensor today and still no difference. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket one and where to get it from.
Cheers
