The ones on the classics are all 501's, capless, they fit into little bulbholders in the rear of the instrument cluster, those release with a quarter turn.
There are two types of 501, can't remember the wattages, but mine are all 5W.

IIRC later cars may have some smaller, or even one larger bulb.
Later owners may confirm, but can you post a pic of the bulb, or read any writing on it?

BTW: for the money, if there are more than one bulb, replace the lot, saves doing it again for another one in 3 months' time

Yes, it's not a BAD job, but why do it again and again...
When I had mine out, one was gone and the others had all blued over

Halfords is easiest , but pricey. Get the bigger wattage ones .

You can get 10 of the 501 bulbs from this Amazon seller for £1.00 delivered. I've just replaced all mine at the weekend. If your original bulbs have the coloured silicon covers over them, be careful swapping them onto the new bulbs as I managed to tear one of mine doing it.

I would go for LEDs behind the dash. Blue or Red are real nice. Look here:

Red are not a good choice if the OE lighting is green: the result is very dim.
