Default Morettes Question

Hello all. I have just fitted a set of Morettes in my Bugeye but I'm unsure as to how they are supposed to work. Basically I had to pull out all the wiring in the rear of the lamps and rewire them (there were relays and wires everywhere connected to the lights). Anyway I now have them working but do they usually switch off the dip headlamp when the main beam is operated or should all four lights illuminate when the main beam is activated? I've wired them so that when the main beam is activated the dip beam goes out but I've been out tonight and it renders the main beam completely useless.
Thanks,
Mick
