Default what's wrong with my headlight?

I'm after some advice. I noticed my headlight was out at the weekend. I've just gone to change the bulb and found the bulb is ok. If i take it out and put it in the other headlight it works fine. I have a 56 plate hawk sti with factory fitted xenon bulbs. Any suggestions on other things to check would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Either that, or the fuse has gone.
Dunno abt Xenon ones, but Scoobs are fused left and right, not main and dip.

If you put the good bulb on it and it didn't work, suspect the ballast.
if you put the non-working bulb in the other side and it DOES work there, that decides it: ballast is shot.

But DO check all connections first. Look for loose or corroded ones before buying.

They are or should be plug and play, A grey ballast with a silver lead with bulb holder one end and a connector block out of the other end that plugs straight in to the lighting loom

As above, if it's OEM, it should be remove the old, replace with the new, just two connectors, and maybe fix the new ballast in place?

Thanks for the input guys - just need to crack on with it now.
I might try drying the current one. My headlight has a bit of water ingress so maybe thats caused the fault. If I'm going to buy another ballast, there's no harm in giving the current one a bit of heat - got nothing to lose!
