Hey guys.

I need a little technical help please...quite urgent.

A good friend of mine has a 2005 Honda CRV and he has ran his battery flat twice lately because he left his lights on.

He has asked me to install a buzzer to remind him. Now I know I need a 12v DC buzzer from Maplin. What I am planning on doing is getting an earth when the door is open, and a positive only when the ignition is off. This would require a relay of some sort (bu which one?).... Or should I jus wire the positive to the sidelight wire and earth to door switch? But tha would buzz every time he opens the door...even with the engine running.

Ideas please?

Buy a small NORMALLY OPEN, (NO), or a changeover relay.
Wire in so that the buzzer doesn't sound when ignition is off. Otherwise, as you said.

Carshop, Halfords etc sell them, but here: http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.e...ays/relays.php are diagrams.
You would buy type 3, code R20BC. Cheaper to buy local, tell them 5-blade changeover, but you can get them from Maplins etc in miniature if you can solder.

Wire ignition to terminal 85, earth it via terminal 86.
Bring sidelight feed in via terminal 30 and out to buzzer via terminal 87a, then from buzzer to earth, same earth will do.
