So my key was knackered and subaru couldnt get a replacement - wierd!!!

I bought a secondhand barrel and door locks, everything exactly the same as mine even the connectors and wire colours.

Now when i put my key in even without turning it i get a high pitched beep from behind the dash and even when car started it still beeps, I have disconnected the connector with the two wires which come from the top of the barrel and it doesnt beep and car still starts fine.

Is this part of the immobilzer? the new key has space for a transponder but there isnt one in there and my old key didnt have one but the same connector blocks

I think i can just leave it disconnected but would be nice to sort it if its sortable

Any help will be appreciated

 

my bugeye makes the noise so I dont leave the keys in by mistake

 

does it do it as soon as you start to put the key in? I take it it stops when you turn the key? mine doesnt and although barrel and connectors the same as my old one the old one didnt do it.
