Default Immobiliser problem

Ive got a 2002 wrx

Unlocked the car on the key remote no problem Cleaned the car went to start it and pressed the button blip and nothing won't turn immobiliser off lock unlock door Tryed new remote battery nothing.

After a quick google it looks like this is a common problem so does anyone know where's the impbiliser cuts into ? I've found a key pad but don't have a code does this over ride the alarm and can I get the code ?

The cars now 40 mile from my home :-(

Thank ian

Yes and yes. subaru can get you the original code, providing a previous owner has not changed it.

40 miles from home and cleaning? I bet its a petrol station near a big supermarket or police station. Chances are its the radio lockout from them, you should try to move the car, manually, even just a few metres.

Do that, go home and change your PIN ASAP, you could have saved all of this hassle.

Hope you get it sorted.

Happens to me from time to time.. I just keep pressing the button on the remote and eventually it gets it.

the PIN is 4 digits. If he gave you another number, that may be to change the PIN, especially if it has a # or * in it.
Did they not tell you what to do?

Check out the manual and reprogramming guide here:

So I take it you didn't try to push the car slightly?

Have you tried disconnecting battery for a few minutes? That's what I do and it normally starts straight away mate.
