Default Heater controllights

Hi I have a 93 classic wrx and was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this

On Saturday I decide to sort out the Heater control lights issue ( they weren't working ) so I changed the bulbs presto they work but as soon as I turn head lights on they go off. Turn head lights off the heater lights come bk on. Confusing me now.
Any ideas. Also filled up with fuel and I know the gauge takes time to register fuel but this time it never moved from last position happened twice now. HELP please

Can you give us some details of why you think the heater control lights weren't working, (ie: what was wrong), and what YOU did to make them work?

Fuel sender may be stuck, or worn.
You can remove it and check it's condition. Don't forget to check for corrosion on connectors. There is a bolted down hatch under the rear seat.
If sender is OK, then it's the gauge or the wiring.

They are ON with sidelights, OFF with headlights, and back ON again with sidelights?

Is it EXACTLY the same with the headlights on dip, or main beam?

Do any of the other bulbs on the dash go off with headlights, or JUST the heater ones?

It MUST have something to do with something YOU did.

How did you go about changing the bulbs?
