Default std key not working propery

hey,
im having trouble to open the doors on my bugeye with the key due to wear and tear. ive really got to push the button into the key, and sometimes to use something to push the button.

any thoughts on what to do, and how much would a new key cost.

I think they are mega£££'s

Can you get it to bits, like to replace the battery? It sounds as if the contacts have got depressed...all you SHOULD need to do is gently bend them back up again.

I take no resposnibility should this result in you needing a new key

But it's what I would do

You can get a second hand key for a tenner or so on ebay. Replace the insides with yours, and re-program yourself using the key pad by your right knee. Plenty of guides on here.

I recently changed to a flip key for mine; as above took the insides out and moved to the new key. I also removed the RFID chip for the immobiliser from the old key and put it in the new key, so I didn't need to re-program it

In this case, the insides are potentially not working, so its the remote function that will need to be programed, once you have got the new inside's. No messing with the transponder or RFID chip, as that will stay in the original key.

Good point... my guess was that if it still works when pressed hard, then the actual switch might be okay and the rubber bit between the thumb and switch might have worn out
