Default HID lighting - blobeye ??

Anyone here using a cheap aftermarket HID set up on there blobeye wrx / sti that gives off a true 6k / 8k light ?? only ask as having now tried two sets off ballasts ( both different makes ) but both the new slimline type and 4 sets off bulbs 2 lots off 6k and 2 lots off 8k I just cant seem to find an hid set up that will give the required 6 or 8k lighting ??

tried a brand new set off 8k bulbs last night, switched the lights on and got the blue / white look that 8k gives but after the lights had warmed up they were back to pure white with not even a hint off blue ??!!

now I know its the bulbs that give off the final colour but in my case it would appear not !! no matter what bulb I use it alwqays pure white and again thats two differents sets off ballasts and 4 sets off bulbs.

the same two lots off ballast were tried on another car and same results were achieved, now they work fine so are not faulty so why should the true colour off the k rated bulb not being showing ??

recomend me a set that works as advertsed ie gives proper blue / white light ??

Strange results indeed.

Our HID kits are accurate as follows and this is first hand experience and not marketing bull:

4300k - pure white, people will likely not even know you have HIDs retrofitted.
6000k - white with a slight blue tint
8000k - strong blue tint, very noticeable on the road to anyone passing.

We have customers around here with our kits fitted and can usually tell very quickly which colour temp they are using.

Maybe pop one 6000k in one side and 8000k in the other - you should be able to tell the difference easily?

Okay cheers thats great really do appreciatte your info, yep will certainly compare them side by side and see if I notice any difference. looking at them again they have possibly a very slight touch off blue in them but certainly nothing like my last set off 8k bulbs used in my last car and certainly not this "" strong blue tint, very noticeable on the road to anyone passing "" that you say it should be.

strange !!

true xenon lights are 4300k, think the blue tint is caused by the cutoff with bixenon lights, best and brightest will be the 4300k bulb but I had 6000k in my old blob wrx and they were fine but defo had a blue tint compared to my current jdm car with 4300k bulbs in stock jdm lights.

As above, the blue tint you see when a vehicle with HIDs approaches you is caused by a diffraction effect through the lens fitted to projectors. Since blue/violet light bends more than red/orange, it's those two colours we see.

4300K is thought to be closest to daylight, 5000K is bright sunlight, 6000K getting a blue tint, 8000K a definite blue tint, and 10000 or 12000 tint is just plain daft.

The reason I say daft is because the LIGHT output is inversely proportional to the colour temperature. This means that as the colour temperature RISES, the usable light intensity falls.

So not only is 4300K the closest to daylight, but also the brightest

The above assume that your lights are to SEE BY, not to be SEEN
