I have a problem with my alternator/battery. After inspecting the issue I noticed a 'glowing heat' coming from the rings of the earth wires on top of my classic's alternator. The wires look shot too, but having followed the earth wires down, they seem healthy after about 6 inches. Is this a case of the alternator over-powering and needing replacing or the dead part of the wires need replacing? The alternator shows it charges the battery as the ampage was also tested: 12.5 to 13.6v

Any help would be appreciated.

I've snapped the earth bolt now.....!! So going to need a new alternator anyway

I'll post the pics anyway so you can see...





This is the bolt I snapped.. Can this bit be replaced, or is it easier just to replace the alternator?
