Weird Starter Problem
I have a weird problem with my 98 uk 2000 turbo
Basically I can go out to start the car in the morning and the starter will just click and do nothing else, If I jump it from another car it will fire straight away without a problem which makes me think the battery isnt holding a charge, the other day I thought it could be the starter simply getting jammed as I tried to jump start the car by pushing it and pushed the car while it was in gear and then tried to start it with the key and it fired up straight away even though the starter sounded very lazy.
I have a volt meter so can rule out it being the alternator as it charges at 14.4 when idleing.
I dont want to change the battery and it turns out to be the starter or the other way round.
Any help appreciated

Good second hand starter motor will be cheaper than a new battery.
Sounds similar to what mine was doing last year, was the starter motor.

Are you connecting the negative jump lead to the battery or engine? If it is too the engine then you probably have a bad negative connection either at the block or chassis connection. Just follow the lead from the negative terminal and clean upp all the connections on it, if you have some copper based grease smear some of that on to prevent future corrosion.
