ok i found it, made no difference.
Does anyone know, is the power feed from the ecu to the purge solenoid and the idle air valve supposed to short to earth when the ignition is off??
i have 10v at the chassis plug when ignition on, but i dont have 10v at the idle air plug!
i have stripped out and checked the engine loom, its fine, i have had the ecu out, i have tried playing with bits, no joy!!
i dont want it to be an ecu issue as it has an esl board in it, i cant afford to replace that just now!!!

Also, is the purge valve supposed to be continuous? when i check continuity between the power pin and the return, i get good continuity, but not when its unplugged.
i have left it unplugged for now, but still dont have the 10v!!
its frustrating!!

ok, another development, checked the plug again, the 10v feed to the purge solenoid and the idle valve shorts on the chassis side, it shorts to the earth from the ecu directly opposite on the plug, coincidence i think, and coincidence that it actually shorts to an earth.
so now, the exciting bit, i have stripped the loom all the way back to behind the dash, i have the loom out of the wing, back into the cabin, and tomorrow i will be taking the dash out so i can get to the rest of the loom.
This was supposed to be a nice easy fix, its turning into a right PITA.

I dont need technical help any more, but moral support would be appreciated!!
