Default ecu compatibility

Hi all, im new here and sure this question has probably been asked a number of times but i still can get a clear cut answer.

I currently own a 95 import 2000 turbo wagon that im autocrossing.
its a GF8 and the engine is a ej20gdw4ne (think its a td04 turbo)

i have killed the ecu, its a 3b

my question is:
are thier any other ecu's that will fit in and work without having to cut and join wires, change turbos or engines as im having trouble getting hold of a 3b ecu localy. also i have heard that by fitting a differnt ecu i could get more power.

if this question has already been answerd elseware could someone point me in the right direction. thanx

depends how much power you want, i changed my 3b for a z4 and fitted a TD05 turbo and a larger top mount intercooler it worked really well, but i think fitting the z4 would be ok, contact jolly green monster on here (simon) he can help i'm sure
