I tried to fit my new Vision Plus lights today to my 2001MY (standard lights), but failed, 'cos I couldn't get the old ones out.
I read the manual, which said
1. Disconnect connector
2. Remove rubber shroud
3. Remove bulb
I was unable to disconnect the connector. I tried to pull the connector off, but it was so stiff and the space so tight I just couldn't. Is there a
trick to this? Is it easier to take the light off, or do I just keep wiggling and pulling?
Advice please!

When I fitted my Morrettes I had the same problem getting the plug off the back of the bulb. I ended up just yanking it as hard as I could. It came off without damaging the plug or wiring so I guess its just fitted tightly.
Its probably worth taking the battery off of the N/S and the air ducting off the O/S. This will make it easier and only takes five minutes.
Cheers
Nathan..

Did the same thing this lunchtime. Took each light unit out as my ham-fisted hands couldn't wriggle enough in the gaps. Only added 10-15 minutes to the job though
General question; what does the handbook say about replacing the sidelights ?

RTFM properly
There are two safety tags inside the rubber covered connector that goes on the back of the bulb. Squeeze in the sides of the connector and it will come straight off!

Well I did RTFM and I don't think it isn't clear
There's something writing on the back of the light that seems indicate a squeeze is required. I tried that, but obviously well enough.
Thanks for the advice chaps, sorry if this same question keeps coming up, but I don't visit this forum very often.
Did it last night in 15 mins. Thanks for the help Dave and Nathan
(Edited to confirm it works)

As I'm still waiting for my FM to R, what does it say about MY01 sidelights ?
I s'pose there's some sneaky trick where you take of the side reflectors and insert a sonic screwdriver, or something

No sidelights in TFM, but there are parking lights, for which the instructions are
1. Remove the bulb socket from the headlight assy by turning it ****er-clockwise
2. Pull the bulb out of the socket. Install a new bulb
3. Set the bulb socket into the headlight assy and turn it clockwise untill it locks.
Hope this helps!
PS Vision Plus are worth the 20 quid IMHO

What The FM forgets to mention about the sidelights is that you don't have a hope of getting at them unless your fingers are each 6" long and not more than 1/8" thick.
The alterative is to remove the light unit, which is in fact still a piece of urine:-
1. Remove front grille:
- undo all the little clips along the top of the grille by pushing the little tab on then downwards.
- gently prize the grille forwards a touch at the top. look down by the funny little painted side grille things, you'll see that the main grille clips into them. use a longish screwdriver to press down on those clips and the grille comes off.
2. remove side grille panels. They're help on with 3 clips each. use a flat screw driver or your nails to gently prise the centre pin out of the clips. then the outer body pulls out very easily. if you have to force them you're doing it wrong. When clips are out, pull side panels towards you to remove.
3. now you can get to all the screws for the light units. two at the front, one at the top near the wings. when they're out, gently pull light unit forward and towards the centre of the car.
refitting is reverse of removal.
You can get to all the connectors and bulbs and stuff when you take the lights out.

Thought the FM would skip over that part ... as it's exactly what I did anyway
Is it just me, or are car manufacturers intentionally designing things to be more complicated than they need be ? Are they hoping that fleet buyers will not even bother changing bulbs themselves and just book the car in to the dealers ?
