Thumbs up Projectors in Classic Headlamps

Will have some more projectors to try this week. Hopefully be able to provide an off the shelf solution or in kit form.

Am more hopeful of these than the last lot.

Will keep you all posted

Dry fitted. Work well but needs a bit more tweaking.

Cold, wet and dark outside when I fitted them (just now), so pics were quick.

HID Projector vs Halogen:

Both sides working:

Need to crack them open (completley) again so might not be until next weekend.

Having been for a drive with them I can say the light spread is very good and they work the same as factory HID projectors. They look pretty smart in the headlamps too

Starting over again next weekend though to get things right.

BOB, the beam pattern should be horizontal & the cut off looks like it's set up for lhd (probably physically 'switchable' within each unit )

OEM Headlamps fitted with projectors.

Bi-beam for H4 fitment, but does away with the H4 type bulb.

Will get more details up once I have had another tinker.

There is no such thing as an HID H4. H4 is a HALOGEN fitment.

What BOB is experimenting with is doing away with the old halogen bulbholder and fitting a proper HID projector in it's place.

Projectors come in two basic types: single beam, for either dip, or main, and bi-beam, for both.

The classic Scoob needs the sesond type, having one bulb that does both in halogen fitting.

Interesting... will I be able to get a refund on the H4 HID Kit I just bought from you? (Just kidding!)
Something else for my "to buy" list but I am very impressed with your H4 HIDs anyway.. so no rush :-)

When you say off the shelf would this just be a case of removing old lights and plugging these in? If so any idea an the price? I'd be very interested.

Yeah, the aim is to provide them already fitted into headlamps on an exchange basis, so that you can just fit them and off you go, without having the car off the road.

No idea on the price just yet as we haven't quite got it right yet.

Keep an eye on this thread though

That would be great as I really wanted some projectors but am not up to the retro fit myself.

Would they come in the crystal style headlamp?

Will be very interested to see the finished product.

Would be a like for like exchange or an option to buy a new set outright.

Just need to make some changes and then see how much work each unit will be.

BOB: what about the bits? I may want to have a go at it myself, so would you sell the kits for someone else to do?

PM me a price, please, if you can.

I haven't got the car at the mo though, but the new headlights are in the loft...........

So would these be a classic headlight with one projector which does both dipped and main beam??

And then you would wire up a HID kit to the projector?

If so i would be really interested in this....I recently contacted a company in America that retrofits projectors into any headlights, but he could only supply single low beam projectors only for the classics and said there would be no room to fit two projectors in a classic impreza headlamp

This here sounds like a great idea!! ....how come these single projectors with high/low beam in one unit are not so widely known of then??

Will be a complete solution, headlamp fitted with bi-xenon projectors, with bulbs, ballasts etc.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm having to do it out of working hours.
