My Subaru Impreza WRX 2004 turns now on and off the CEL light.

I have connected it to a computer and the computer reads out:

PO-546 EGT sensor circuit high

Doesent that mean that the egt is to cold? and what could couse it? And is it safe to use a 2,2kohm resistor instead of the sensor?
