Default engine swap help!

hi, ive just bought another engine out of an RA, it had already been professionally fitted in a 98 uk wagon, all of the sensor plugs are different on the inlet manifold, i have tryed fitting my inlet off my other but its bigger than this new one, so i tryed fitting the other throttle body and thats bigger, so nothing really fits, do i need to change the loom to the engine from the wagon i got the engine out of?

If it has been professionally fitted, surely the fitters would have done all this for you and got it going?

There are a couple of obvious points to make here.

First of all, from what you've told us about the connectors and inlet manifold not fitting, it's obvious that your new engine is a different model year (or "phase") from the original. If this is the case, then yes you either need to change the loom to match, or else you or someone who knows auto-electrics will need to graft the appropriate connectors onto your existing loom.

However, all that said, you say this new engine has come "out of an RA", and then later you say it was from a wagon. If you've got an STi type engine, have you got the matching turbo, airflow sensor and ECU too? If not, there isn't much point even trying to connect it into your existing wiring loom and ECU, as even if you get it running, chances are your car won't run anything like properly.

Before you go any further it sounds like you need to establish exactly what type and model year of car this replacement engine came out of, and what model year your car is, and then we can advise you how best to go forward.
